I am considering hiring a Virtual Assistant.

Would you consider odesk the best place to look?

    Hi,

I always suggest that you check out the US national association for VA's at IVAA - International Virtual Assistants Association. They have VA's from all over the country at various price points.

I agree on this. IVAA is such a good place in hiring VAs across the globe. Or better yet try Odesk and Staff.com as alternatives. Actually, there are many sites that offer this so it's all up to you where to go. I hope this article helps you decide where to hire a VA.

You have to be careful when choosing VA's, there are lot of those who will always try & say that they can do the job but end up wasting each others time. Choose wisely.

  • You could also try looking for VAs at onlinejobs.ph and bestjobs.ph. But if you could give a few more details on what you're looking for in a VA specifically, it would make the process of looking for a VA faster. Like are you looking for someone to work part-time or full time? Are you getting a VA for easy jobs like data entry or complicated tasks like SEO and programming? And you also have to remember that not all VAs have the same rate. Where you hire your VAs from and their skill level would determine their rates.

as John Jonas have said bestjobs.ph is the best place to go, nevertheless I think it is important to say that you need to spend a good amount of time training your employees and defining your processes, otherwise you will be adding overhead of your company instead of adding value.

Odesk, Elance, DP and here at the Classified Ads section of this forum you can fine great offers. I saw an ad offering SEO virtualal assistants for $150 per month here. You need to test their services a lot before hiring them as well.

  • It all depends on what you are looking for, what rate your budget allows and your expectations. Speaking as a VA I find Odesk much more user friendly on both ends than the alternatives.

I've had good results on Elance before, I think it's more about interviewing and communicating to the VA before you decide to hire to make sure they are a good fit more than the actual platform you find them on.

Actually the best advice on finding a VA is set their expectations of the job right at the very start in your ad / conversations so they know what you expect of them, that's probably the biggest reason a relationship with a VA fails (VA's are not mind readers, and to be fair the majority do want to serve you well).

    Good luck with it!

Zirtual.com has high-quality U.S. based virtual assistants, but you need to request an invite. It's pretty exclusive.

I'm working on hiring somebody from the Philippines via a USA contact there. He started his company there for that reason. He is a warrior as well.

Hit me up on skype (flechamobile) and I'll pass on his details (by heart I believe his website is hireinthephilippines.com ).

So far I'm very happy with his efforts and I think we just found a perfect match
(No I'm in NO way affiliated with him).

When I first started hiring VAs two years ago, the first place I went to was Elance. My cousin and I wanted to create the next big social network, which subsequently failed. However, when talking to other people that tried to do the same thing, they mentioned spending $30K -$150k for almost the exact site that we have built for $3k split between 2 people. That's when I really saw the power behind hiring overseas.

I have been using freelancer.com and odesk, and have no problems using their services. The quality of service most filipino workers provide are excellent and could sometimes meet or exceed your expectations.
