How and where to find a good VA?

I am developing some niche sites and need help doing so. Specially I need help on designing sites and SEO, any of you have any exp on VA's and if one VA can do both? Can't afford two! Also if someone can tell me how much is the going rate for VA's.

Some input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

Yep, Philippines is a good place to hire VAs. You can find them on Odesk, Craiglist etc. Check out this blog, it explains why Philippines is on top among other countries if you’re looking for a good VA.

Here are the best two places I find my VAs from and I think you'll find it useful as well.

    1. Craigslist in the Philippines.
    2. OnlineJobs.ph if you can handle the $50/month. It's great because you can sort them by their self assessed strength in the English language.

You can hire all over the world where labour is cheap but I've had the best luck in the Philippines.

What tasks should you give them?

I'm lucky enough to have a pretty big team since I have so many sites to manage. In general, I have them do one thing and one thing only. What you'll find is that if you give them too many tasks, they'll just disappear on you. They'll get confused and approaching you for help is generally a much bigger deal to them than it is to you. They'll just avoid it.

    What should you pay them?

There are no real rules as what's fair is what two people agree is fair. In my experience though, typical pay varies anywhere from $200 to $500 USD for a typical VA to up to $1000/month for more specialized work like design and coding. I'd generally recommend don't go lower than $300-350/month to start or you'll generally not attract a higher quality person and have a lot more weeding out to do at $200/month. I don't know anyone who does this full time who starts on the cheap scale and has any long term success with VAs that way.

Make sure you hire them full time.

Only hire full time or they'll constantly disappear on you, regardless of where you go to hire them. The turnover won't be worth the headaches.

How you can make the work flow 1000x easier on yourself.

Most important item, use a screen recording program (Jing, Camtasia, etc) to show them exactly what you need. Never leave anything up in the air.

You can find some good VAs right here in the Warrior Forum Classifieds. They are VAs themselves or agencies who offer VAs on hire. You will get greater accountability from Warriors catering to other Warriors and judge their services from the feedback.

I have two VA's, one from the Philippines and one from Jamaica. I pay them $2.50 an hour.
Up to now, they have done exactly what I've asked of them to a good standard.
I found both of them on fiverr.

I would also recommend Odesk - And that's from experience.

I particularly like the way you can track people's hours and what they've been up to and so on.

What I do is start a job with fairly vague requirements. It might be I'm looking for a writer or someone to rank my sites.

Then I look at their quotes and then message those who fit the bill. With writers, I get them to do a sample 250 word article on something so I can see their quality. With SEO, I ask for samples of previously ranked sites and then an indepth discussion of how they go about ranking sites.

Then you filter out the crap and then look at what you've got left and work out who is best. It becomes pretty obvious.

    Good luck!

If you do some research you can find really good VA's for a couple of dollars per hour. Your best bet would be people from the Philippines. You can start searching on easyoutsource.com and look for a backlinker/article writer. When hiring somebody, always implement a trial period and pay them per week to see if your VA is motivated and has good work ethic, then you can't go wrong.

Yes, it is possible to find a VA with bot qualifications. Simple, you can post here at the WF at the looking to hire section. You'll surely get a lot of takers. As for the rate, it depends really on the level of difficulty or the work plus the required turnaround time for completion.

Second the rec for Craigslist, in the Philippines or elsewhere. I've tried a bunch of the more usual websites - odesk, elance, etc. - anf found CL to be the best. You'll need to do some weeding out, but then you'd probably need to do that anywhere.

Yes, you can find a VA who can do both. The rate would depend on how experienced you want the VA to be. The starting rate for inexperienced VAs is around $200 a month.

The VA cost varies based on what skill sets you are looking for. Manual work VAs will cost less, compared to someone who needs to have specific skill sets like web design, seo etc. You have some very good vendors here on warriorforum itself. I have been hiring a few of them on monthly basis and their service is really good. If you need any help in finding, just pm me

If you would like to post an anonymous job offer or add a few more details than what will fit into 140 characters, CraigsList is an excellent alternative to Twitter. Moreover, you can find an assistant who lives in a desired location, including your own city. The advantage with CraigsList is that you are in direct touch with the candidate without a middle man to worry about.

As guypeleides says I have had a lot of luck on OnlineJobs.ph but contrary to popular belief, you need to spend a lot of time training your VA,s to do the type of job you want them to do, creating reports, etc... IMHO it is time well spent, it helps you to have a bigger sense of processes, a clearer idea of why you want a VA for and if it is worth it.

I always recommend my friends Mukul Verma Outsourcing Guide | Internet Marketing Crunch outsource training guide, he taught me everything I know about outsourcing and even help me to hire my first VA.

    Good luck

you don't need to bother yourself much guy, you can good VA at one of freelance sites out there, or you can get top notch VA in a specific job by the uses of search enigne, take for instance if you are looking for VA to write for you on full time basis, you can simply type "writer+forum" in serch engine and hit search botton, in this way you will be able to find the hang out of the best writers there and try to look for the best writer on this forum and appeoch them in proper way. With this you should method you should be able to find best VA, if you think this is hard work, you check out Microworkers - work & earn or offer a micro job, here you should be able to find what you are looking for without much problem. Hope this help.
