Tracking Keywords that make sales

Hi,
I am an article marketer and would like to know which keywords are the ones making the sales so that I can concentrate on those and then use ppc for those keywords.

What do you guys use to track the keyword that makes the sale.

Waiting for your suggestions.

Thanks,
faraz

It should be about your article in order for you to track keywords that make sales. You should make a article that are very known on this days. So, that you could have many visitors on your website.

I am really unable to understand what you are talking about.
Can you be a little more clear.

Article and keywords? Not sure what you mean.. But you can make a unique URL for each article to see which one is bringing in the sale.

    umm, no.
Actually I had seen something like extreme conversions software which says that it can track which keywords makes the sale and it was for ppc.

So, I want to find something similar for articles too.
Ofcourse, I can track which page is making the sale by using tracking ids, but I dont know how do I track which keyword the buyer used to find the page.

    Is it clear now?

It's clear(ish) - but I think you're not clear about what's possible in relation to
    what you want 'visit_faraz'...

Do you mean the keywords people use to reach your articles on directories like
    EzineArticles.com?

If so, you're not going to be able to get that info. It's passed to the 3rd party
site, and they're not going to forward it on to you (it's valuable data for them).

PPC is different because in most cases the info is being passed directly on from
the search details that the engine supplies.

    Best,
    Adam

As adam said - you can not get this info.

This is why I would start with ppc.. then you know which kw's to use for the articles, backlinks, etc. Otherwise, you are flying blind.

Actually, I am talking about my own site and not ezine articles.

Suppose a person comes to my site using a certain keyword and then buys the product, how would I know which keyword the person used.

I can always track which page of my site( I mean on my own host , my own domain) by using the tracking id's but I dont know which keyword the buyer used.

    Is it more clear now?

ahhhh - ok.. yes, you can get this info. It's in the http header - do a google search on 'http referrer', and you'll find some examples of how to get this info.

Tracking the sale will be a bit tougher if you aren't selling your own product though. You'll need to create a tid for your affiliate link on the fly, using the referrer info - the problem is, you are usually limited to only a certain amount of characters for this, depending on the affiliate network.
