Hi guys,

I'm in the process of buying a few old domains to setup my own private network of high PR sites to use for links to some of my new domains.

Most of the old domains are random names but i need to know how to use these old domains. I don't want to use them for my main site, only for links.

-I have scraped the old sitemaps for these sites, do i create all the same pages and keep the original site-map structure and then add to it? Some inner pages also are high PR so i want to keep them.
-Do i need to create unique content for all the old pages?
-How do i change the topic/theme of the old site or should i keep it the way it was? For example, if it was a travel website, can i change it to a health topic website? The domain names are generic, not topic related.
-What time frame does this need to be done?

Basically i need advice how to keep the PR and help the transfer to me as smooth as possible. I will be hosting the new domains on a different host than my own sites.

Thanks

Well, I think you are basically using expired domain that have been dropped for a while. You must know that a dropped domain that has been parked for a while in a hosting company will be penalized by Google for lack of content. It is rather difficult I think to keep the PR of these domains bit you can use the wayback machine and copy/paste the old content, build backlinks and wait for the next PR update

I'm using domains that have been dropped, bought through godaddy auctions. The original domain owner still have 1 week more to reclaim the domain, after that its mine. The domains still have their PR and a good diversity of links.

Thanks for your response but i need advice on the original questions.

All domains have been checked and are good. Can anyone with experience using old domains help me with these questions:

If I were you and the sites are Wordpress, I would just install the 404 to start plugin so the incoming link juice gets redirected to the home page.

As to the content, rewrite it for what you want. I had an expired domain that was a PR3 in an industrial niche come back to page 1, position 3 for a car detailing service. Go figure
