Hey guys. I just started a blog and am wondering what the most efficient ways are of driving targeted traffic to my website. I've heard of being active on forums and submitting articles to directories. Any other unique ideas which can help me out? Thanks!

I like to use social media marketing and search engine optimization to try and drive targeted traffic to websites.

I would highly recommend using videos. Find problems in your niche and create short how-to videos on youtube and then have them click through to your blog to get the full solution...

Or find other ways to direct youtube traffic to your website.

If you have just started a blog, just keep adding fresh quality content as often as you can, and create some social activity on it ..but if you have a good monetization on the blog(preferably good sales funnel) then I would drive paid traffic to it..I'm allways a big fan of paid traffic

Ppc is the way to go but you need to get thehelp of a ppc expert at Elance. Banner ads and solo ads will help you get more targeted traffic. These methods will help you test offers fast, and free methods will take a lot of time to get you results except social bookmaking.

When it comes to blogging you will notice the top tier blogs often have other blogs and business owners that send them traffic on a regular basis. They tweet their stuff, share on facebook, guest post, and mail their subscribers to their new content and products.

You should do the same, look into forming a syndicate with other like minded business bloggers. These can be new people, or more established blogs you admire.

Remeber, when forming a syndicate blog, it is all about what you can do for the other blogger first.

A 3 blog network system i find effective.

get an account with word press, one with blogger and your main site. thats your 3 blogs.

make or take a video and embed it to your main site (your money site). your other two blogs will be your feeder sites. they will also have that same youtube video on them with keyword hyperlinks pointing back to the youtube video and to the main money site.

grab content from the internet and spin them relating to the subject you are trying to rank in. place them on you feeder sites (i rather strip the content rather than spin them cause sometimes when you spin them, they make no sense or are spun enough to be considered as unique content).

index the sites by shooting them to social networking site. theres services that allow you to post to multiple social media at once. the social media site indexes your site within a few mins which aids google with finding your site and crawling them.

there's more to do but trying to keep this post short.

Add social media icons to your blog, this will strengthen your social signals and online reputation. You may also want to try some guest posting to boost your audience share and exposure.

Suggestion for you. Ask the question differently. "What is the best way to market my website?"

Reason is "The difference between a website that receives targeted traffic is dependent on where, when, and how you market the website."

Also, if you are dead set on learning or getting advice about 'free and targeted traffic' then you may want to post your question in the appropriate forum where you will receive targeted advice from people experienced or specialized in 'traffic methods.'

P.S. Are you referring to the site in your signature? Tip = Start a list and know that your site content offers your visitors absolutely nothing that cannot be sourced from professional marketers that are already successful and already have 'free and targeted traffic' - they learned a long time ago - market the website!

I believe every marketer had to start somewhere. The key I believe is to take it slow and let it build a life of it's own. You might not get but 1, 10, 20 visitors today to your site. Figure out how you got them there and do more of that again. One of the things that I've learned in my time on the internet is that you need to figure out who you are on here. If you're pushing products, then maybe it's the site you need to work on that is more persuasive and better copy. If you're trying to build a brand (YOU), then work more on becoming what others need by offering good, quality, meaningful solutions to their problems and they will hunt you down for more. Just a thought. I don't claim to be an expert as I'm learning all of this stuff as well, but I can tell you, I'm not the type of marketer I was several months ago.

Remember, just take it one day at a time and you'll eventually get there.

    1) Always make sure your content is targeting a keyword, read more about practising sustainable SEO: 15 On-Page Optimization Factors for Sustainable SEO

    2) Involve in Social Media. Gather your readers into your G+, FB, Twitter and LinkedIn. Occasionally post your thoughts and content. Go around the blogosphere, make new friends and comment. It's best if you can comment in G+, most bloggers now have G+ authorship profile. If you have not, get SEOPressor.

    3) Build a list. Can't say anything more important than this. Find out how we do ours on our blog. Always create value and present "thought leadership" content. This will carry you very far.

    4) Use visual content. Infographics, videos, badges, etc are all great marketing tools. Repurpose your content into infographics and pin them. Our infos are getting lots of traffic. I have not seen any large blog not use infograhics.

    5) Optimize on-page seo and work on off-page SEO. Try to stay away from spammy techniques. SE sees the web as a whole, they know when you spam. Guest blogging and contest based links are the best. Press release is one of the best ways to build highly valuable backlinks fast too. Google just can't ignore news stories.

    6) It sounds stupid, but it's really how it's done. Gather your reader/follower/subscriber one by one, one after another. Pay attention to each of them. The more you understand about them, the better your business will be. After all, we are in people business.

These are the strategies we use in managing our various products and sites. Hope these helps!
