Kunaki upload problem. Gonna take days to upload!!!

Hi Guys

I am tring to upload a DVD to Kunaki at the moment.

It's been uploading for over 4 hours now and only 5% uploaded!!

Time left is stated as 129 hours. That's like over 5 days!

I'm real reluctant to come out of the page as I don't really want to have to start all over again having to create the cover design etc.

I'm not using a WI-FI wireless network to upload the product either, so don't know why there seems to be an issue.

Any advice? Anyone else having this sort of problem with Kunaki lately?

My advice is to not use Kunaki if you want to create extremmely quick DVD's/Cd's and save yourself a lot of money.

I know many people say they are cheapest around but I found out differently.

Go watch Video #6 on the page below and it will tell you why Kunaki may not be your best choice and what you should do to get your Disks created the same day dirt cheap.

I prefer to use Kunaki with an automated script. I also design my own DVD covers in 300dpi and it works unbelievably well.

Shipping goes straight to my customers, even for multiple DVD's in a series using the automated script that I use.

So I am going to stick with Kunaki.

PS. Before uploading your material make sure to restart your computer for best and fastest results. Also, if you become disconnected don;t worry. Kunaki will pick up right were it left off without missing a beat!

Just let the thing run overnight, and it should work. I've found Kunaki pumps
out all kinds of werid readings and bandwidth speeds during initial upload.

But the CD arrives perfect.

You should be good when you wake up.

I do recommend you get a sample sent to you, and listen to it all to make
sure it's good.

Do you mean, if I reboot and then login to Kunaki it will have saved it there ready to continue the upload?

make sure you turn off EVERYTHING that could be hogging your bandwidth. No multiple browser windows open.

Yes that's correct.... The good news is you only have to upload it once. Let is run overnight and it should be very close to bin done by tomorrow.

Mine took about 36 hours to upload, I had a copy sent to m to see if it worked and I found a glitch on my end (encoded the vids wrong) so I had to do it all over again... LOL

Lost it all (I think).

I rebooted. Logged in to Kunaki and there was nothing there.

What I do have, that is saved on my PC is, a File called VIDEO_TS.

Also there is a Kunaki Frame (that looks like an image of a cd) and there is also a PAC file.

When I log in to Kunaki there is no product there (Nothing uploaded), just my name and address details etc.

Does this mean that I now have to go to Kunaki.com and click the 'new customer' tab and start all over again?

Will I have to completely redesign my package again from scratch?

Or if I run the DVD publishing software from my desktop I would again have to start from scratch, design the cover again and upload DVD again?

Appreciate your help on this guys.

Oh, and is 36 hours a typical upload time for Kunaki???

Roy,

You are probably better off shipping it. Does Kunaki allow you that option? Think of how much time you can save just by popping it in the mail and shipping it off.

If they don't allow you to do that then I suggest you go with Vervante - On Demand Publishing which is a better service in every way over Kunaki.

Pretty sure Kunaki doesn't allow you to ship DVD's to them.

It's all very frustrating really. I've got a DVD of me speaking at an event in London and I need to get this sorted asap. I felt that I was almost there with Kunaki. Designed a neat looking cover, etc (took ages) but then their upload problem drove me crazy.

What I like also about vervante besides that you can upload and ship things to them is that I can pick up the phone and get customer service that Kunaki users can only dream of.

Just taken a look at Vervante Josh.

I was after a quicker easier solution really. Couple of things.

a) I'm not a designer and yet the Kunaki process allowed me to design a very good cover and DVD image right within their process and for free (I wouldn't know how to begin doing that outside their system). whereas Vervante charge $75.00 per hour if you don't know how to design these things yourself and their design service takes 2-3 weeks.

b) Looks like I have to ship them the DVD, which will take a week to 10 days to get there from Cyprus. Even Kunaki's 36 hour upload (sheesh!) would be quicker for me.

Looks like I'm stuck with having to start all over again with Kunaki and then just put up with their massive upload time.

Thanks for your input Josh. Vervante looks very professional and could be something that I can use on other projects that are not so time sensitive.

Well, just thought I'd do an update to help others that may be looking at Kunaki.

I figured out that the Kunaki Frame (that looks like an image of a cd) that I had saved to my PC had in fact saved everything (including the cover design etc) and when clicked on it took me back to where I could continue the upload from the point I left off. That's what Mike said in this thread, I just had to figure out how (doh!).

I then left it on overnight and this morning it is now at 12% uploaded. So, I'll now just leave it uploading to Kunaki and eventualy I should get my completed DVD.

Kunaki's instructions leave a bit to be desired I think but with a little persistence I got there in the end.

I think it could simply be the connection from Cypress is part of the problem.

I am glad to see that you're still going to be able to upload your DVD and get everything completed.

Upload speeds are typically slower than download speeds, you can check your general speeds at Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test and select a server in the states.

That would at least be some indication of speeds.

I think you will generally be pleased with Kunaki, simply because once uploaded its all hands off.

When you get into a place of doing some high volume there are other places that you may want to consider.

The benefit still for kunaki is they handle all the manufacturing and shipping for you.

I mainly use them for Data CDs and DVD's or Audio CDs I haven't made a full DVD so I have no idea what time it takes to upload.

Thanks for that. Actually, I'm going to be giving the DVD away for free.

I'd actually like to send a cover letter with the DVD but I don't think you can do that with Kunaki, so I may have to get the DVD's shipped to a facility house that can add my cover letter and send out.

Still looking at the best way to do that.
