Paid membership? How to protect your content.

I was just thinking how do you guys protect your content within the membership zone.

If you host your video courses online then what if people share that link. ?

If you give them log in credentials they can share them too.

If you let them download, they can download and share with other ppl or share the download page with others.

So im going in circles here.

How do you guys do it?

Humblest gratitude.

There WILL be sharing. Sucks, but not a whole lot you can do to get around it beyond DL Guard and DAP. Profits Theme lets you protect content as well as Optimize Press I believe, but still, stuff's gonna get out.

      Good question indeed.

I have been studying this question of yours for the past 2 weeks. There are tons of solution out there. I've owned Wishlist, DAP, DELAVO and a couple of other standalone solution, and read info re: amember, S2, and Sid's Rapid Action Profits.

They have different strengths and weaknesses, and it's not an easy choice. Some criteria you need to consider is price, support and ease of use for both the admin and user.

For video course, you may host them on Amazon S3, and protect it with WL/ S2/ DAP/ RAP's combo... lots of variation out there.

Other popular solutions out there are: membergate, infusionsoft, kajabi...

I use 'easy member pro' for two of my sites. It hides download and video links, restricts content with multi level memberships etc it's easy to install and manage and you have full control. It's worth a look . BTW it's not mine, I don't own, resell or affiliate with it.

          Cheers

There are no perfect systems but aMember is a popular
membership script and it can lock an account if it is accessed
from too many [you se the limit] different IP addresses.

Yes if videos are downloaded then they can obviously
be shared. There are some membership scripts that
allow you to drip-feed the content, but still after they
are accessible to members they can still be shared.

As far as I am concerned with securing your digital
products I try to avoid two extremes--worrying
about people stealing my stuff and being so lax that
I don't care if my stuff is stolen. There is only so much
    you can do.

I found one of my products shared on a blackhat forum
and it was my "fault" because I left the door open.
They were sharing a download page. I simply added
a password protected directory and now new members
are complaining that the product is no longer available.

The only comforting thing about that forum was the
compliments the OP gave me and how this was a must
have product. I wanted to ask to use it as a testimonial!

I guess being stolen is the highest form of flattery.

Don't worry too much about sharing - it will happen.

Do your best to set up coded security, follow up with DMCAs where applicable, and mentally let go of worrying about it.

Instead, focus on over-delivering. You'll develop such a rabid repeat customer base that the little 'leaks' won't matter.

The download only page can have unique value such as receipt number passed through the url of the download link so we can have an expiration date for the url or if that url is downloaded from different Ips you can find out which customers url is made public , also the easiest thing would be to go in for a membership script such as amember or butterfly marketing script which will take care of the protection upto a level .

in my membership site i upload all the videos into the members re using a secure membership platform so people can't easily copy and share the videos

any product which i sell i always just package the videos up and then let them download the videos

yeah they can then share the videos there is nothing you can do about that but generally people don't

the few that do will probably only ever have a positive impact on you anyway giving you a bit more exposure :-)
