Can someone clarify something about solo ads for me?

A lot of people seem to be offering for instance 100 clicks when you purchase a solo ad. Does this just mean they are saying they will get 100 people from there list to go to for instance to my squeeze page or are they actually saying they will get opt-ins to my list where I give away a free ebook? I am most referring to safe-swaps but I assume it would apply here as well. Thanks.

They are just referring to the number of click they will send to your link..

It means you will get 100 clicks to your squeeze page, it's then up to the set up / optimization and offering of your squeeze page as to how many of those 100 people opt-in to your list.

99% of people will only guarantee clicks since they have no control over how well your landing page will actually convert.

Here is a good tip about using a URL shortener to insure you can track the clicks. I also want to add that so often the traffic you get from these services does NOT convert and is a waste of money.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

offering guaranteed clicks is find of standard now

i would never buy a solo ad without them being able to guarantee how many clicks i get to my squeeze page

thre are actually solo ads where they say they will guarantee you x number of subscribers so say 100 or 200 but the costs are a lot more for obvious reasons

It means clicks but if you have a high converting squeeze page then you can still benefit.

The best place to get high converting squeeze pages is right here on the WF.

If you're going to go with solo ads, you should make sure to have tested subject lines and e-mail swipe. I find them too expensive too gamble on. A great way to test is with ad swaps. These are free, and if you have a list that can send 15 or 20 clicks already you'll be able to find swap partners.

You may want to do some research on double opt-in or single opt-in as well. Look for legitimate case studies. Almost everyone will say use single opt-in. In my opinion this should be reconsidered for each traffic source.

My experience with solo ads is that using single opt-in builds you a list that will spam you with a auto-responders every time you mail them.

Your results will vary greatly depending upon the solo ad vendor.

Also, make sure to have the squeeze page basics in place. A catchy and pertinent headline, succinct content mostly limited to a few bullet points, and obviously an opt-in form.

I also like to brand squeeze pages with a logo, or a face. People remember these things well. I use my face as my logo, and my name as my brand. This way you can take advantage of repeated exposure more so than you could with a generic looking squeeze page. This is important if you find a solo ad vendor you like, and do repeat business with them.

With 100 clicks, expect maybe about 40 opt-ins.

They will send about 500 people and most likely 100 people will land on your squeeze page...the opt in rate depend on your squeeze page conversion

I don't really trust solo's really... Not with scam sites like minute worker and the likes... That pretty much ruins a good thing too. Sort of pisses me off, and tarnishes our name as internet marketers.
