Question About Google Search For My Site

Hi folks,

I just did a google search for my site - mountain river stream
My site is mountainriverstream.com

It came up toward the bottom of the first page and said this:
"A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt - learn more"

It also didn't show my tag line.

What does this mean?
How do I fix it?

Thanks much,
Dr. Nicki

The learn more link takes you to the page that explains it.

"You need a robots.txt file only if your site includes content that you don't want search engines to index. If you want search engines to index everything in your site, you don't need a robots.txt file (not even an empty one)."

Log into your hosting account and look for this file under your domain and delete it if you want everything in your site indexed by Google.

So I went into Bluehost an into file management.
Chose my domain and then did a search for the file "robots.txt" and nothing came up.

      Next?

      Thanks...

If it's a new site you probably don't have that many files to look through. Sometimes these search facilities don't work. Try a visual check.

If you can't find it contact Bluehost support and ask them to help. I don't know about them but Hostgator can always sort out my problems easily enough.

I will check this out, thanks.
I do not have any SEO plugins yet, just the SEO options the Freshlife theme comes with. I will look.

      Thanks,

Sometimes the plugin will try to deliver meta tags via your wp-admin and the crawlers cannot find them causing the problem you are describing.

Also have a look at your websites privacy settings.

      Hope it helps!

Under your WP, General Setting Privacy setting.

Did you set allow search engine to index the site?

Ever notice that people who spend money on WSO, memberships and courses, are always complaining about being broke and not making any money ?

They should have bought ASSETS instead.

Now my site is not coming up in google search at all.. at least through about 5 pages.

Could this be that I had my site set to not be accessed and then I changed it.

Does it take google a few days or more to catch up?

        Thanks,
        Dr. Nicki

If you have noindex, nofollow metatags you will not be indexed.
If you use Wordpress go to Settings->allow site to appear in search engines.

WordPress automatically generates a robots.txt file on the fly, so you won't see it in your file manager.

You have the default WordPress robots.txt file, so unless you changed something recently, there should be no reason why Google won't index your site.

You can use Google webmaster tool. And verify your site and play around it. Google itself will give you a lot of option to manage your site.

Your robots.txt file is important so search engines like Google will crawl and index your website fast. If you do not have one, just create a robots file using notepad. This post here may be helpful for you.
