Aweber/Paypal intergration - some advice please

I sell electronic downloads and I was hoping that I could have the download email sent automatically on payment via aweber. Annoyingly though, the customer is first sent (you can't opt out of this) an email asking them to confirm subscription. I've had a few angry emails from customers thinking they have been conned into regular payments not a one off payment as advertised.

Anyone managed to get round this?
Thanks

Using an auto-responder to send an email that's not really related to an auto-responder is ... odd.

Use a PayPal ipn script to send the email.
Im sure there are plenty of free ones out there, or you can hire someone to custom make one from you from their library for cheap.

Make sure I'm getting this right...

    1. They are purchasing instantly.

    2. Upon purchase, they are added your list.

    3. They get the notification from aweber.

    4. They get mad because they think they are now on a paid subscription?

If this is the case, then I have a solution... But just want to make sure this is exactly how its going down.

He is looking for a way to deliver a download automatically via email.
He is also trying to do this via aweber, which requires confirmation.
So if they dont confirm, they dont get the download.

I have to be missing something here... Why are you not using Paypal to actually deliver the download? Or redirecting them to the download page after the sale is made?

If your placing them on your list at the exact same time of sale, then I can see how they might feel insecure. If your not getting them on the list prior to the sale, then just wait a week after the sale, run your Paypal sales report, and export the email address and name to aweber... On single opt in, they will just get a notification e-mail, which is somewhat editable and can link to a follow-up page.

Sorry for the delay in replying. The situation is exactly as
oldschoolwarrior says. I didn't really know about whole ipn script thing. So I will check it out - thanks. They do get directed to a download page, but they often close it by accident or something before downloading what they need.

Where you made the mistake: you set your list to "confirmed opt-in" (a.k.a. 'double optin').

For the lists that add buyers (= you have business relationship with them!) use 'single optin' option: no confirmation email, they are just added tot the list and the very first message should go out immediately with the download link.

However, I would also seriously consider redirecting them after payment to a download page - you have that option when creating the paynow button (down in section 3)...

      This ^^^.

You're all discussing it as if Aweber requires confirmation, and that isn't so: you can do this as a single opt-in list. That way, they won't get the email to confirm their "subscription" (the word that's apparently causing the problem, here?).
