Can't Find Quality Book Cover Designer..

The two ladies who used to do my book covers aren't around anymore and I'm desperate to find someone. I need a designer who can do kindle and print book covers that are not the cheesy ebook style.

Does anybody know of someone good?

I need something much higher quality than what the fiverr guys offer. In the past I've paid up to $100 for my covers.

I paid $80 for the very first cover I bought and I'd take a couple of the Fiverr ones I bought since then over it any day.

There are some diamonds in the rough.

Interesting. Would you mind sharing who you use? I can't seem to find anyone for under $250ish.

Sorry Dana - I've only done covers for my own books and while I occasionally look for someone else I can outsource that too, haven't found anyone just yet.

Pretty sure Amazon offers a cover design service...but not sure of the quality and what their costs are.

    I'm with Gengis.

Remarkably, I've found some great e-book and kindle cover designers on Fiverr. It's basically the only thing I use Fiverr for.

Might take a bit of searching through the crap though. But you can't go wrong for $5.

$100 for an high quality book cover is waay too low, if you got a great design with legal images that allow for large print runs, great job!

The images needed to make a great cover aren't cheap at all, not including the design itself.

Personally I think $175 is more in line with a realistic rate for a high quality book cover, most professional graphic designers would not touch something for less than $250 - $500 easily. And if you go to an design agency, plan to spend between $500 and $1000

Many of the kindle book covers I have seen that people do here on the Warrior Forum or Fivver are very cheesy and unprofessional IMHHO.

If your looking for a high quality Kindle Book design let me know.

Yes, it is low and that's why it was such a great deal haha. I've been researching and have found a few book cover designers from anywhere between $250 - $500. That's more than I want to pay but I may just have to go for it.

If you paid $100 and got a legal great looking cover, you did great!

I've been asked to do quite a few book covers recently, and most people do not understand that the images can cost quite a bit of money. As you probably know there is a huge difference in price when you switch from 72 dpi to 300 dpi images for offline print.

Also, lots of people who design ebook covers, have not been trained in actual offline print production. You usually have to have a Graphic Design degree for that. Although it seems that lots of the book publishers now supply templates that are easy to follow, with all the guides and bleeds etc.....

I remember in college telling one of my teachers about some of the rates I was charging for side work and they flipped and said I was waaaaaaaay too cheap. Of course the teacher had come from offline Design or Marketing firms. So their perspective was from a completely different perspective than the Warrior Forum expected price points.

I like falling between the two price points, not too cheap, not too high.

    I got mine from here:

Custom Covers | Kick Ass Cover Images

San is great to work with and will fiddle around until the cover is perfect. In fact, I got a review on one of my best sellers (fiction) where the person said she bought the book because of the cover!

I know many have said this already, but yes, fiverr is the way to go. Or SEO Clerks. Just make sure they have good reviews before you get ahead of yourself.

Indie and self-publishing book cover designer| Scarlett Rugers - professional and high quality
Her designs are nice, but not any better than most trained graphic designers. As long as you understand typography, color theory, design principles, etc, you can do a nice print book cover.

The one thing she does that I like, is that she offers other things to help promote the book, like timeline, poster, bookmark etc, which is included and helps justify the high price point, which honestly is not that high and more inline with what a high quality book cover should cost from a real designer.

Try elancer, sorry I don't have a name, but the services you find there are usually a lot better than Fiverr's but more expensive too !
