Are You Making this Mistake with Your List?

Not keeping your name fresh in the mind of your list:

We are all on way to many lists, so it is very easy to forget just who is who. So this is why you must take your personal branding so serious. You don't have to start off each email reminding your list who you are and why you are emailing them. But is doesn't hurt to remind them every few emails.

Don't be afraid to be different and show your real personality. Don't forget you're your goal is to be remembered. Let your list know about yourself both your failures and your successes. Building a real relationship with your list is the secret to your success online.

I try to keep in touch, but I think there has to be a balance, you can not email them too often...

Well if you are going to send emails just be yourself... don't try and fake it till you make it because it just wont work.

Trying to tell someone you are making $1,000/ day online even when you are making $hit all is unethical and not cool.

Just be yourself and people will love you for it.

I just wrote a post about Personal Branding
But How I keep my name fresh in the mind of my subscribers is simple. Of course I give them solid content...

But I usually take things a little further! (Being on a couple of other market's list I never receive emails containing the 3 things I mention below.)

    1. I send them surveys...
    2. I send them polls...
    3. I ask them open ended questions...

Over periods of time of course!

Those 3 things informs me of what they need help with and what I need to do to help them.

Most of all I'm honest...If I mess up I let them know. "Hey I jacked up this niche site, let's see how we can fix this problem or learn form it!"

It's all about being yourself. People want to get to know the real you...at the same time, you can't please everyone. But it doesn't hurt to try though :p

Make them interact with you (as marc7 pointed out).
Ask them for advice and share some of your storys.

Also don't be shy to add one or two sentences about your
current real situation. Need a new phone? Why not "ask" them
for advice on a content related follow up?

Not only should it not be all selling, but it shouldn't be only
IM (or whatever niche you're in). You'll be surprised what
    you can get away with.

Take the time to create a great product (eBook , video series...) that provides great value to your subscriber. If the product is quality, they'll remember you, providing you continue to send valuable content of course. Anyone can create their own product to give away if they just take the time in the beginning.

Skype and Video are a great addition to the regular social media. I am working on a video course. If you are serious about branding you must show your face.

Great points thanks for the post.

I laughed so hard........ #10 was my favorite.

Should I feel guilty for cleaning my office (which is shared by the whole family) before making my list building videos? Well at least it is my house. Lol. OK mine and the banks.

By going in with the mindset that I'm NOT going to be a "marketer"... but rather that I'm going to be like their best friend who is sitting across the table helping them with whatever they're looking for, and being an advisor to them like any friend would.

I wrote a video on this very subject the other day:

ChrisNosal.com » The Importance of Being Yourself In Business (And Life)

You stand out by being the best at whatever you do; better than anyone on the planet, and you find people who share your passions, goals, hopes, and dreams, and connect with those people.

I think the label "marketer" is terrible, because it distances us from the people we're helping.
