Real Professional Development

a little while back I made the choice, because I wanted to build something big that would last, that I needed to become a programmer who could build a real web application. I did not want to build crappy websites that didn't bring a new experience to the web in any way.

So I taught myself Ruby on Rails, using Software training online-tutorials for Adobe, Microsoft, Apple & more and Ruby on Rails Screencasts - RailsCasts and now really feel like the world is my oyster.

I really just wanted to share with you that it is not so unreasonable to believe that you can legitimately teach yourself the skills needed to create amazing things. Twitter was built with Ruby on Rails as were some of the greatest and most dynamic languages. Python, PHP and many others are totally available, but I would definitely pick Ruby.

You can PM me if you want any advice on the topic. It does take incredible perseverance and you need to be pretty smart and computer-savvy to really go there in the first place, but it is not an unreasonable barrier.

One last note, I have built a blogging platform that is really great and if any of you are interested building a business that has immense potential to grow very large along with my platform you may PM me and I will let you know more about it.
