Hi Warriors:

I have been contacted via email by an advertising media company offering me to sell advert space in one of my sites. I tried to find out about the company but not really much about the company. I even tried to find if the company has been involved in any kind of scam; but could not find anything mentioned against them in the scam related sites or any other forum as well. But I did find something about the company mentioned on 2/3 forums and one blog. All the people who are talking about the company seem to have been offered the same thing. Nobody has said anything bad or good about the company.

I looked their website and it looks legitimate.

This is exactly what they wrote "I was wondering whether you'd be interested in selling advertising space on (website url)? The advertisement would be unobtrusive and we can pay you an annual upfront payment for the advertising space.

We can also provide guest blog posts from industry experts in many cases.

I am from _____, a new media agency headquartered in the UK. We plan out and acquire advertising space on major websites and portals, as well as smaller niche sites. I personally deal with our smaller publishers, increasing brand awareness and share of voice for the major brands that our group works with.

We'd love to work with your site. If you have any questions or would like further information, please do not hesitate to email me directly. "

It looks like that they found my contact email through dns look up.

What do you think about this offer? Should I contact them? If it is legitimate then how much should I sell the ad space for?

By the way, my website is about sports and has pr 2.

I bet this email from them will amount to nothing.
    Such a generic email.
    But we will see.

I used to work for a digital advertising company. They have odd ways in contacting people. The company used to send out thousands upon thousands of emails trying to get advertisers and publishers by just emailing them.

Most of the time it is legit. Try it out and look at their policies. If they don't pay up, then move on. But, these digital advertising companies do need the middle men (you). It's a win-win for both, unless you don't want the type of ads they use. It might be one of those ads that promote **MOM MAKES $5,000 WORKING FROM HOME**

Thanks for putting your thoughts and suggestions.

I replied to the email asking them how much they want to pay for the ads space on my site.

Let's see how it goes from here. I will post about the progress. If it works fine then I will reveal the company so that our fellow warriors can jump into this too.

I contact people to buy ad space on there sites all the time, it is a great marketing strategy and an easy way for you to make some money if you decide to rent space out to them.

It's someone wanting to buy a banner on your site to get traffic back to theirs this is a pretty common marketing practice

Reply back and ask him what the offer is. As for the price, if you don't know what to charge for your ad space, how could we? Telling us that it's PR2 is not enough info. There are PR2 sites that get very little targeted traffic and ones that get a ton. Do an assessment of your traffic and then find some comparable sites to see what they charge. Then, decide what the space is worth to you. If his offer comes close, then sell it to him.

This happens all the time. If you do want advertisers then why not make a page that shows your rates and placements. You could also provide a self-serve advertising option like oiopublisher.com
