      Glad you changed your mind...

What you need to do is pick a strategy and master it. Spend 45-60 doing just that strategy until it is working for you. This industry will GIVE YOU NO QUICKIES!

There is so much information overload online that anyone can get overwhelmed, frustrated and just decide not to do business online.

It is a trying industry and will break you in every way possible. Those of us who succeed do so because we hang around long enough to get through the bullshit and make things happen.

How about just taking it one step at a time?

Take a deep breath, relax and then coolly and calmly post a thread asking for advice/help on one obstacle that you've encountered. Once the helpful warriors have responded with their vast knowledge and expertise in that area, take the advice and give it a whirl.

When something works, go back and post it.

Once warriors see that you are serious and are taking advice and putting the work in, they will be more apt to help you through, one step at a time.

      Good luck!

      There's your problem right there.

My mentor said to me "You want more heat, but you wont put any logs on the fire"

I could help you, but I'm not cheap. So I guess you need to either...

      1) Continue on as you are
      2) Pay mentors what they're worth
      3. Give up

You took it too broad in you mind. Perhap you lack of information , but as you are here in WF, I think that it's to much and over information. I find it difficult because you are clueless; you find it too hard because you are not a technical person in doing web IM.

You'll get nothing I swear if you give up. Alternatively, you will at least gain more experience and knowledge even not money at this time but it'll come to you when you want it too bad.

Can you tell us a little bit more about your business model? perhaps some of the warriors can help steer you down the right path

What is it you are trying to do; affiliate, CPA, product creation, etc etc..

With stuff like setting up websites, you can find a lot of help on YOutube for a lot of stuff, you can start there and google. No need to pay anybody.

Without giving away the farm, can you disclose a bit of what you're trying to work on and develop in your business?

    I WANT TO GIVE UP
Deekay, we see posts like these all the time in this forum. Some of them are genuine and some are not. I'm not sure which one you are.

I was at your very spot many years ago. I nearly quit. I was so frustrated because I had spent 3 months studying website design and then followed my mentor's advice (my mentor being a large 2 binder marketing course that covered just about everything) and I still wasn't making a darn cent. I was ready to quit and told my circle of friends that I was.....

Then a friend told me something that I will never forget:

"Rod, quitting is easy. People do that every single day. Starting a business takes a lot of hard, persistent work. Think about it. People quit on their relationships, their careers, their friendships, their dreams, etc. And that's not a bad thing, that's just reality.

But if you want something bad enough then you have to make a real commitment that you are going to succeed no matter what. So the first thing you need to do is go back and re-read that marketing manual, take notes, and be honest with yourself to see if you really are doing what the manual says to do.

Don't quit on your dreams. Find someone who is getting the results you want and learn from them. Figure it out!"

So I hunkered down and followed his advice. It wasn't easy. Back then I had an ego the size of the Empire State Building. It was tough to eat humble pie. But I wanted to work from home and have my freedom so bad I could taste it.

After an honest assessment of my business, I realized that I was doing the following things and they were hurting me in more ways than I ever imagined:

    • I was still watching TV.
    • I was still playing video games.
    • I jumped from one program to the newest program.
    • I kept buying software but not really using it.
    • I had a bad attitude. I expected things to go smoothly and when they didn't I began blaming everyone else except myself.
    • My autoresponder only had one message in it, meaning that I didn't studying the basics of list building. That one mistake probably cost me hundreds of thousands of dollars in terms of real opportunity cost.
    • I was only promoting one product.
    • I was still hanging out with negative people or people who didn't support my dreams.
    • I wasn't focusing on obtaining targeted traffic
    • I wasn't focusing on selling
    • I wasn't focusing on increasing conversions.
    • I wasn't focusing on creating a real, long-lasting business.
I swear on my left ear lobe that once I fixed all these issues, the money started coming in. It was almost like magic! I put in a lot of 12-16 hour days back then (it wasn't necessary, but once I got bit by the action-minded bug I couldn't stop!).

I'm always suspicious when people write "I did the Chris Farrell thing" because that doesn't tell me anything. I know plenty of people who studied under him and have done very well.

Starting a business is full of obstacles and you can't let them get in your way. And unfortunately, there are some unsavory people out there who will try and take advantage of you.

But you've got to ask yourself, are you willing to pay the price? Because what you are going through right now is peanuts compared to what you will go through once you have to expand, outsource, manage, update your will/ trust, manage your investments, etc.

This is just the beginning of the journey, not the end. It's time to change your perspective or move onto something else.

Thanks for the detailed response. I really appreciate it man. I am going to try my best to do this with a straight forward mind-set and achieving things one at a time. I just need someone along the way to keep me focused on what I need to do and take me through all the steps via skype etc. I am even prepared to pay for this, I just need someone that is experienced and is making a fulltime living off of the internet. I am also in school but I need to do this for my future as I am young and I wish to start now and take this to the next level as I age. I am interested in business/entreprenuership very much. I will be studying that fulltime in college and maybe even in university and hope to achieve my own online and offline business that is the biggest thing ever and hope to become one of those wall street genius millionaires.

I just sent you a Private Message. If you're serious about this I WILL point you in the right direction. I'm NOT going to sell you anything, what I'm going to do is what I normally charge $250 an hour for, which is to ASSESS your business and what you've been doing right and what you need to change.

I'm going to give you 45 minutes of my time on Skype. Let's see what you do with it. I was once in your shoes and someone took a chance on me, so now I'm paying it forward.

All of this right here ^^^^ . I played around in the IM side of things about 11 years ago and for the most part, I thought I was doing well. Well I got married, had 3 kids, and finished my Bachelors and Masters. During all of this, I had no time for IM. I ended up selling a profitable site and cashed in to help out with expenses. I do not regret getting married, having kids, and the joys that have come from this. I do however regret not sticking with IM.

I decided to get back in this several months ago. Did the game change? You bet it did! I went right back to what I was doing when I left off. I started off with a smaller advertisement site and thought I was going to rake in the big money. Boy, good thing I did not quit my day job. Through research spending numerous days and hours reading several forums, I then added another source of potential income to my site. Now, I started to see some money trickle in.

I too was looking for that person to cook my food, cut it up, and feed it to me. Heck I was even willing to chew it myself! I found that unless they are just starting out, most of the coaches that can actually get you earning money cost an arm and a leg. Not saying they have forgotten when they came from, they just have reached that point of bringing home the bacon.

So, I got determined to learn more and more every day. I found that I was trying everything and not focusing on too much of anything. A couple of things would work here and there but nothing solid. I then decided that I was going to focus my earnings on 3-5 areas until I had those down, and then I would branch off. The smartest move I ever made in my IM path was to sign up for the War Room. At first I thought it was just an extra way for these guys to get some money.

I was dead wrong. I am mad at myself for not signing up for this forum a few years back, but what can I do? There are people in the War Room that will share their stories and give you step by step details on what they did to make money. They GIVE THIS FOR FREE. Is it all true? Is most of it fabricated? I think a very large majority is real, and I have earned some very decent money by taking what I already knew and tweaking it to make it even better.

My earnings now are equal between online and offline clients. I have 5 streams of earnings from sources I did not several months back. Am I boasting? Not at all! I didn't say I am knocking down millions, but I am finally taking a turn for the better. There are some days where I didn't sleep. Other days, I would lay down and only sleep 3 hours. I wanted it that much. I had an idea and I had to see if it would work. It has been tough, but I would do every bit of it over again.

Be confident in yourself and better things will start to happen. No one will buy something from you, if you don't even believe in yourself. You will probably not find a coach for $10 around here that will help you make a great deal of money. Start of small and scale up the coaching. That's what this whole thing is about. Start small, tweak what works, and scale up! Build relationships with trust, honesty, and respect. Eventually, you will be helping those in your situation.

Let me know if I can help you in anyway.

      RoD
I'm touched! This will get me motivated.

Honestly, just read, gain some knowledge.

Then after you have spent enough time reading and learning (completely free content) don't spend your money, you will know exactly what and how to do it.

Give yourself a second chance, I get similar doubts every day, and I'm already successful.

The truth is that internet marketing is very complicated. What they tell you online about ‘how easy’ it is to make money is a big lie to make newbies spend their money buying courses, believing that it will be easy to make money with one of these courses.

Internet marketing is a complex system you have to learn if you want to succeed as a seller. You need a thousand courses until you’ll learn everything. You should try to learn everything you can for free at this forum.

If you are only trying to make money online somehow, perhaps you should provide a service first of all, and make easier money this way, instead of creating websites without the necessary knowledge.

You should study everything you can by yourself, without depending on a mentor.

Mentors can help you somehow but they won't build your business for you.

  • I'm also curious to know what you didn't like about Chris Farrell's membership site. I know he doesn't talk about product launches or WSO, but the customer service over there is phenomenal. I've never waited more than an hour to hear back from customer support. If I ask question in the forum at least six people with experience usually respond. You won't find a more customer service driven marketer around.

It sounds like you really need to step away from the computer and do something else for a while. Go for a walk, read an inspirational book, etc. That always helps me.

Hope everything works out for you

    I WANT TO GIVE UP

I had a bodybuilding website before. Nothing fancy. Just a basic info site promoting affiliate products. I didn't do much promotion. A few links here and there. Hardly any SEO. At the time I thought it was a big failure and I gave up on it. But that's because I was comparing it with my home hardware site, my health site, my adwords service site, my forex site, etc. I just forget about it, didn't put any work until I eventually sold the site & domain.

Looking back now, that bodybuilding site was making $45-$65 a day on average on clickbank. Before you give up, maybe give it a little bit more work? I gave mine just a little bit more than you did. Not much, just a little and look where that led. You can do more than that.

You didn't say what you've been doing or what type of online business you want to start. Have you even made that decision yet?

Clarity is a HUGE part of IM success. It's so simple when you know it -- and darn difficult when you don't! I owe my mentors a world of thanks for bringing this clarity.

You sound like you're a little bit all over the place. Take your love of photography and plug it into my advice here.

IM is actually pretty simple: you can sell only one of two things:

      1. Products
      2. Services

      That's it!

And selling products or services online happens in the same basic way for everyone, no matter what they're selling:

      Traffic > Opt-in page > Autoresponder series (or e-zine) > Sales page

That's it! It's just that simple. (We IMers tend to overcomplicate things.)

But no matter what your niche is, or whether you're selling a product or a service, do you know what your business model is?

A business model is the framework or skeleton of your business. Essentially there are three types of online business models:

      1. Membership-based model

A membership-based business model allows you to build a community of people (your members) who are as passionate about your subject as you are. Your membership fees can be monthly or annual, but either way, you're building recurring, passive income.

There are a lot of resources and information out there to help you build a membership-based business if you're interested in doing this.

      2. Product-based model

Selling products allows you to maximize your time and effort by selling items over and over again. This can be hard goods or it can be information products. Information marketing is it's own business model under the product-based model. Information marketing allows you to take your brain to the bank by creating a product ONCE based on what you know and selling it over and over again.

      3. Service-based model

Selling services can be great for 1) generating quick cash (as in the case of article writing or video producing) and 2) establishing your expertise and getting testimonials.

(Affiliate marketing falls under both models. You can choose to market either products or services as an affiliate.)

However, in the long run, your goal should be to offer services at a PREMIUM. The biggest advantage of IM is LEVERAGE. You're able to leverage your time, money and expertise exponentially online. We all have just 24 hours each day. Time to get ruthless about what you expect for those hours you spend in IM each day. Expect more of yourself and more from your business friends, clients, partners, etc.

What results are you getting for those hours you spend online each day? Ultimately, your services should be at the bottom of your funnel and cost the most since they involve your time and personal attention. (We all have a limited amount of time each day.)

The fun (and confusion) comes in with all of the endless mix-and-match possibilities of the above models. If you're just starting or still struggling to make money, keep it simple:

      Pick just ONE!

      1. Pick ONE niche. (Something you're interested in and know something about.)

      2. Pick ONE target market for your product or service. (Who will buy what you're offering? The more specific you are, the more you narrow it down, the more successful you'll be.)

      3. Pick ONE business model.

Now that you're clear about what business you're in, FOCUS! (And stop buying any info not related to your niche and target market, period!)

      F -- Follow
      O -- One
      C -- Course
      U -- Until
      S -- Successful

And remember: build a list, Build a List, BUILD A LIST!

In IM, it's easy to put the cart before the horse. Take a deep breath, step back and consider what type of business you REALLY want. Don't worry about getting traffic or buying that expensive traffic product until you know 1) what your business model is, 2) what niche you're in and 3) WHO your target market is!

Successful business people will tell you that MARKETING is more than half the effort that's needed for success anyway. So pick a niche, target market and business model. Then spend most of your time and effort marketing it.

If you DON'T have a solid plan or system, THAT'S when it's hard. A good system will shave YEARS (and save you big $$$) off of your learning curve

That's why I recommend investing in at least one good, comprehensive IM course (or mentor who will give you such a system) instead of jumping from one $37 e-book to the next. A lot of people here complain about not being able to make any money. But neither are they willing to invest in their business. (Buying a random bunch of $37 e-books doesn't count.)

The best thing I ever did was invest in a comprehensive IM course aimed at REAL business owners, not just other IM wannabes. Yes it was $1500. (It's no longer available.) But it was truly some of the best A-Z IM info I ever bought. Everything else I've learned (from the $37 e-books) since has simply been plugged into this system.

Get a solid plan or system and then work the plan!

      Hope this helps!

Thanks for the response, much appreciated and it seems you have overcome a lot of obstacles, nice to see someone be successful, I'll be sure to pm you my skype

I wish I had someone to give me a reality check when I was going through this years ago. OP don't be offended by what people say. Sometimes they are really trying to help, and others could care less about your story. Print the comments out that you think are negative, hang them above your computer, and use them as motivation.

In this IM world, you can't have "soft skin", you can't get depressed when someone tells you no, and you can't give up when things fall apart.

on top of building your business, you should be reading self help and success related books, cause mindset is 90% of the battle.

You'll never succeed without the proper attitude, this is just like any other business it takes time, it takes effort, it takes the ability to remain positive no matter what you are being faced with.

IT takes the ability to shatter through obstacles without giving up. No matter how many times you get knocked down you must get back up. If you give up every time something doesn't go right you'll never be a success.

from the way you worded your post sounds like you've only been at it for a few weeks, were you expecting to be a zillionaire by now?

Nicholas is right. I'm NOT a "positive thinking" advocate. I generally HATE the "woo woo" field. My argument has always been "You can think positively your whole life, but if you don't know the "how-to", it doesn't matter." I don't want to be a motivated idiot.

But after being at this game a while, I have to agree that mindset plays a HUGE role in your success.

I HIGHLY recommend listening to anything by Jim Rohn, especially his "Weekend Seminar." The Weekend Seminar by Jim Rohn [JR940-090] - $99.00 : Inspirational Quotes - Personal Development - Motivational Quotes & More - Jim Rohn International

Jim Rohn passed away in 2011, but he's one of the leaders/pioneers of the motivational speaking industry and Tony Robbins' original mentor. He was a multi-millionaire and IS a fascinating speaker -- not boring at all. His points are so incredibly common sense.

      Hope that helps!

I gave up on IM a long time ago, after loosing $6K in buying bullshit that doesn't work, I don't blame you.

I currently sit on a $6K credit card debt, no job, negative savings account. It's all bullshit.

as a previous poster said though, are you willing to do the work.

if you look at the sales pages and expect thousands in one month, it's not possible unless you do alot of advertising or you have a killer product / webpage.

You are right in not blaming him. You should blame yourself for your poor decisions on buying random shit without applying any filter or common sense.

You say that you spend $6000 on stupid products that "dont work". Well, $6000 buys A LOT of products, so it seems to me that the problem was not the products but rather your inhability to select the proper products you needed it. And that is only you to blame for.

The problem is definitely that it's all bullshit. It's got nothing to do with you - the world is, without doubt, against you and you are merely a helpless victim.

  • Making money online is VERY simple: drive targeted traffic to a paid offer.

So, if you have failed to make money online, I assume you have not been driving targeted traffic to any paid offer.

My recommendations: STOP dabbling about with useless stuff and focus on what I said above.

For those of you who may watch this video and do "Not" get motivated by watching it, then it's time to do some soul searching!

Print out an inspirational salesletter from a proven product with tons of proof and paste it in front of you.

Follow the product's teachings all the way thru and thru every step exactly as they laid it out.

And vow to never veer off the path, never buy another product, never switch to another game, never waste time doing other things until you get what the salesletter said is possible.

You're probably not focused on one method at a time. Don't give up! Instead, make sure to follow one method from start to end even if you're not seeing the results immediately. That's the problem that most marketers are facing.

Create your own product, let others do the hard work that you're doing now :-)

I recently heard Ryan Lee say "do not stop your job" in a webinar and I thanked him in my heart because he is telling the truth for the majority. Because you know some people think that the "stop your job" phase comes easy and they burn their money on some product and fail miserably. It is said that in IM more than 95% fail and that is because it is not easy! That is what I feel. You still need to have a flow of money from your job or something to help you keep on trying IM. However I also say "never give up!"

When I started the new project I took from what I've learned and enchanced. So it's all benefit and I'm happy.

Part of being successful is about being mentally tough, business is not easy. Doesn't matter what level of success your business currently has someone is working hard to try and take it all off you. So, you either need to be prepared to struggle and fight for your corner - or just give up. The choice is yours.

I unlike others won't bully you into any decision. You know better than anybody here what type of person you are - and it's you alone who will be the success or failure of this. There's also nothing wrong in owning up and saying this isn't for you, it isn't for everybody.

I suggest you to not give up, instead you should try to find out why you are not succeeding.

Maybe your money making methods are not suitable for you? In that case, try other methods.

I'm willing to bet you might be 'biting off more than you can chew' - pick a small subset of your niche and pick a very focused traffic strategy. Keep it SUPER simple.

You NEED to build a very small success, something *anything*. Maybe its your first subscriber (not sale), or maybe it's your squeeze page up and running for example.

Then just build on that, but KEEP IT SIMPLE - and don't focus on the money right now, that will come.

I would also suggest that you put your credit card back in your wallet and leave it there. I will bet you know what you need to do, you CAN DO IT - keep your goals simple and reasonable and just slowly build small incremental successes - don't define them as money just yet, only milestones.

    1. Squeeze page up.
    2. auto-reponsder connected to squeeze.
    3. Classified ad written
    4. Classified ad ( or solo or whatever) run.
    5. 1st subscriber

Get the idea? Simple, simple, simple

And celebrate! When you have step 1 done, have a cookie!

But then get back to work

    Good Luck!

You should have tried this when web hosting was $100 a month or more,
with next to no bandwidth, and we had to learn how to code html by
    hand.

And back then you had to try to get pages down to the minimum number
of kb because everyone was on dial up internet connections.

Most pages back then had less kb total than a basic header would take
    today.

It is a learning curve getting something up and running...no doubt about
    it.

And being successful online isn't easy...if it was everyone would be doing
    it.

But if you stick with it and keep taking intelligent action then eventually something
    will work for you.

    Kindest regards,
    Andrew Cavanagh

Oh my god, man! Look what have you done here=)

    What a stir! Seriously=)

Everyone is so clever, everyone tries to advice something...

People even write big posts for you, tell you their fantastic stories! Want to attract attention...

Make a site, send targeted traffic...

Easy to say - hard to do.

I understand you buddy, because I was in this ass just last year.

Do not read these posts of people who never were in your shoes. Listen here.

There are only 2 things you need to do now:

    1. Switch yorself to another activity for some time.

    2. Do not think about "fed up" - think about something positive because bad thoughts draw bad results and good thoughts - good results.

Believe me and do not do as gurus tell you. They just make money on you. When I did these things I solved my ass problems. I got my money for online business and nw I'm making good money.

    Good luck!

Before deciding to give up just remember how you once learned to walk. If you’ve forgotten it, go visit some of your relative who has a toddler starting to walk at the moment. At first he/she crawls for a while. At this moment it’s totally ok, no problem for the baby that it’s all he can do. Then comes the moment when it’s enough of crawling, the child tries to stand up—and falls. Doesn’t make the child frustrated, just an opportunity to try again. And again. And again. Success! Then first step—falls again. Another try. And another. And soon there will be running and jumping all over the place.

What’s the secret? NOT giving up—persistence!

I'm sure I felt the same you did. But you can't give up. Not in this kind of business. Most marketers have their own failures. It's really frustrating when you've expended all effort, time, and money. And I think it's even more frustrating when nothing's happening and you no longer have clues what to do next to get to where you want to be. When you're trapped and caught up, this is the time when you'd feel giving up. It's like nothing's working and I don't know how else to do things.

Why don't you try to give yourself a break. Ease your mind. When you get enough rest to start all over, then go back to business. Do research on how you can improve more. List the things you've done that seem to be not working. Focus and experiment on new things. Be update on what everyone else is doing in the online market. You can't go back, only move forward. That's what I learned.
