Yes, Facebook has a trademark. Before evaluating what you can do on your website, you may want to review FB's filings at United States Patent and Trademark Office

Although they have a trademark on the "like" button, How and when you use it for your own site can only infringe on Facebooks rights, if it is believed that your visitors think that your site is in some way affiliated with Facebook due to the Like button.

Most trademark applications, and thus trademarks, are too far reaching in their verbiage to be held up in Court.

Facebook Inc.

PS: But that might be only for the Symbol/Logo but not for the actual Word Mark

They don't have a trademark on the WORD like. Amazon also uses like buttons. With a different design of course.

Very useful site, thanks for sharing. One thing to note for anyone using the site, don't forget to select 'Search For Trademarks' if using the search box on the top of the page. Only downside that I can see is that you could get stuck for quite a while looking at various trademarks - just out of curiosity

I did not know Facebook owns the word "like". If I can not use that word, I may use something else. You can use the word "awesome!" maybe.

A word Mark is different then a Symbol/Logo Mark according to the site references I gave they don't own the Word Mark for like ...

I cannot imagine that this can be accepted as a Trademark ...

interesting.... mark is trademarking the word "face" and now

yeah they may have trademarked it, but as someone said Amazon uses a "like" button as well.

So it would appear the trademark is somewhat limited in practice.

Trademarks can get way out of hand and uber ridiculous on the internet.

Of course you can use it, facebook doesnt have trademark over it. as rachel said, they did sue some sites for having to use "Book" even though they dont have trademark over that word.
