This is how I organize my day and stay productive...

Have you ever thought about setting up your daily tasks into categories?

I have - and I'm always more productive as a result.
This is how my schedule is planned out each day.

Personal:
My personal category will be most likely filled with morning
Rituals like walking, exercising, meditating and absorbing
Positive material.

Read:
In this category I pick a book to read and spend an hour a day.
When the book is completed I simply start on another book.
You can also Bookmark a couple of cool blog posts and place
them into this category.

Write:
I usually plan my writing the night before - and can be anything
from a blog post to an email message.

Content:
I spend 1 hour each day on creating content. Either I work on a
new book, create a video for my blog/YouTube or even to write
a blog post. (If I choose to use this category for a blog post, I make
sure that the "writing category" above is used for something other
than a blog post)

Traffic:
By far the most important category on the list, I spend 2 solid focused
Hours on generating traffic. The traffic category is different than the
"content" and the "writing" category. For example: Writing a guest
post can generate traffic, but I keep things like that for the "writing"
category. Forum posting and social media engagement will go into this
category.

Planning:
This category will entail things like research, looking into new traffic
strategies, and even planning out my next goal. This category is usually
the last task of completion for the day.

I find this strategy to be incredibly efficient. I'll give you an idea of how
I structured my day, today...

Personal:
Wake up at 6am.
Go for short jog.
Meditate.
Eat healthy breakfast.

Traffic:
Comment on 10 blogs.
Make 10 forum posts
Participate in social media.

Read:
Scientific Advertising - again (read for 1 hour)
Read 3 bookmarked blog posts.

Writing:
Write forum post (this one)
Write email message to subscribers

Content:
Spend 1 hour on my new Personal Development book
Create new sales page

Planning:
Research new high ticket service I may promote.
Learn the ins and outs on Kindle promotion tactics.
Go over my monthly goals.
Set out tomorrows schedule.

Each day there will be different tasks to do in each category, except for
The "personal" category which is always a constant. I believe if you follow
A similar approach like the one above your productivity will massively
Increase over time due to the compound effect.

I find Information overload becomes less of a problem with a system like this -
and you never neglect any part of your business as a result. Try it and let me
know how you get on.

Have a productive day.
Declan.

I sincerely admire the way you work! I suck at organizing anything! It's just me, really! I once had a boss who wanted everything planned in advance, put into categories and it drove me CRAZY! But, I could see she was getting things done! I know the idiom "what gets measured, gets done" but I have other ways of being productive!

I like the UNEXPECTED...lol! But it can drive me nuts too because I may not finish something on time and then I get stressed out and disappointed with myself! I really ought to try to organize myself a bit more and see if it works!

    Little by little...that is! lol!

It's already finished, no need to judge, that's the natural beauty. What perfection? Ever try to perfect it and it totally changes the original message or vibe?

Thank you very much for sharing this post with us!
It reminds me on Brian Tracy 1000% Income formula!
Plan is everything and there is no quick results like

In fact those info products pushing you away of your goals!
If you plan to create new traffic strategy, you can try

I've just found it a day ago and it's absolutely amazing!

Thanks for sharing. It's pretty clear cut, but do you plan your social activities? Sometimes, I planned my lunch or dinner with friends a week ahead ...

Ever notice that people who spend money on WSO, memberships and courses, are always complaining about being broke and not making any money ?

They should have bought ASSETS instead.

It definitely works to have some sort of organization, Yoan, especially in this business where there's so much stuff to do. I used to just wing it but seriously had to sort that out because I had no idea what I was doing from one moment to the next.

Cheers man. I will take a look into the "Empire Avenue" resource. Although I've read a couple of Brian Tracey books, I haven't came across that one before either

Social activities? I don't have any, rendell. Yes, I do of course. I set out my schedule the day before, but not a week in advance. I do have social commitments away from my workspace a couple of days each week and I plan for them by marking them into the "personal" category.

I think it is a very good idea to have plans. Without plans, you may not feel organized and you may screw up in your activities.

Overall, I give your organization 4 out of 5.

I bought Eben Pagens wake up producitve course about 3 years ago now and that seriously helped me with my production. In the morning I set out all my goals and break them up into a schedule. I set them out in a 3:30 hour sections, I works for 50 mins and take a 10 min break, I do that one more time and then finally I work 50 mins and take a 40min break but all of that 50 minuets is solid work, no distractions etc...

        Real nice post dude

I think that "wake up productive" course was started again a couple of weeks back. I watched a few videos he made for promoting the course and they looked very good.

That's the big difference in the end, working with focused chunks of time.

Yeah he did an updated version. I wanted it super bad but I thought I could do something more "productive" than spend hundreds of dollars on it.

I still want it, but not in a position to spend like that right now when I can get straight to the root of it and just make myself "take action" on sh*t I should be doing.

Regarding the thread, I like the idea. It would put it over the top to then organize your lists into a schedule and follow it that way for me though. If I have an allotted amount of time for a task, I try to stick to it.

Parkinson's principle: Work expands to fill time allotted for it's achievement.

I usually have an allotted amount of time I stick to for certain tasks, Mike. But if I'm writing a blog post or creating a video for example, I'll stick with it until completion. Time can be allotted for tasks like reading and researching.

              Have a good one.

I like the part that involves reading and learning. This is the real secret to success. You take action but you also need to improve your knowledge. This involves seeking out info while finetuning/assessing the stuff you are doing.

I try to cover everything within the 6 categories. I agree that learning/reading is very important, but if I didn't have the "writing - traffic & content" categories, I'd spend too much time in learning mode

Not always, Daniel. On days where I have other commitments, I may get a little less done, but I always complete a task from each category regardless. On a day where I have more time, I'll write a guest post, if time is a problem, i'll write a forum post, or an email message. I always structure my next days tasks the night before, so I balance the time I have at my disposal to tasks I know I can complete efficiently. I still get a lot done either way though.

My schedule generally takes about 6 hours to complete. I make sure those are focused hours though. I don't watch T.V so I still may put in a couple of hours after. But, once I complete each category, I couldn't care less what gets done afterwards

You really have to ask yourself whether you're actually working all those hours, or are you just pissing about (which is what I spent a lot of time doing at one stage) Hope that helps man.

        I don't even have a TV.
The problem for me is that I got lot of job to do, because I'm web developing for other and it is really time consuming. Plus I have to advertise my services, by finding some other potential clients, sending them email and keeping in touch with them...ect...

I'm thinking of outsourcing my longest job, but the earning won't be the same and it is hard to find some cheap and reliable web developer.

Anyway, I will find the solution.

Thanks for this article. It's has really helped me to understand what type of organising problem I have.

Good job buddy that's a great schedule... You can get WAY more done if you plan out what you need to do each day. I mean first you need to know what you want the big picture to look like then you can drill down to small tasks daily and weekly to move toward your end goal.

Thats a great way to layout your day, and if it works for you - great, more power to you.

I on the other hand got into this business for the freedom. So I don't have a set routine. I wake up (whenever I feel like), Do what I want for that day, Sleep then repeat.

I much prefer doing this, as I hate having a set routine, and this works for me as I still get what needs to be done, done.

The most important thing to take from this is to simply do what works for you.
