Hi, could somebody tell me what a scraper is please?

    it scans through URL's or page sources and find results based on parameters you set.

    usually they use a google adwords account to sync with for the scans. normally disposable accounts, not your normal use account. You'll need proxies, because when you search to frequently your google adwords account will timeout.


    some people also sell bots/scrapers they have created using bot creation tools like... i forgot the names... but those are usually crap.

    scrapebox is a nice tool to have for research, and if you search around you can find a discount code to get it for around $50-$60 usd

    Content scrapers are pieces of software that pull already-published content from various places on the web (can pull written content or video) based on the keywords that you input into the software. Unethical people will most often use them to publish other people's content on to their blogs, so they have content.

    Fortunately, this is looked down upon by the search engines and will cause their sites to get penalized or "sandboxed." Unique, quality content that provides value to the end user is what you should be going for. The search engines "eat it up," so to speak.

    This is what I think of:

    A Scraper is a late 80's to late 90's General Motors made (affordable) luxury
    car with rims so big (20-22") that the tires rub the inside of the fender and
    frame     -Urbandictionary.com


    Sorry--

    In IM-- its software that harvests a certain type of information from the
    web. For example, Scrapebox finds blogs that allow backlinks in their comments
    (then posts to them.)
