  It's been fixed for several hours - and they are now working to restore the payments that had a problem.
  
  It's not the end of the world - just a rare instance of downtime for Paypal due to a technical problem that had to be fixed.

No don't think so.Its a hiccup as with any on-line business. Paypal is here to stay for long long time.This is my opinion of course.

What the...?! I was hoping I could send some $ into my paypal account tomorrow. Good thing I didn't do it yesterday. I am hopeful it's already fixed by now. It should be. I need to take some cash out. grrr! It always worry me with negative discussions about paypal.

Maybe we should think to diversify if we just rely on one payment gateway ...

Same happened with PayZa/AlertPay when they stopped providing their services to UK registered companies like myself - I was happy to have PayPal as an alternative.

Hmm been login in and out of paypal all day without any issue

But one of my clients payment gateway processors for credit cards was down most of today...ironically they were encouraging paypal lol

Most systems have the odd malfunction. This is the first time I had a problem but it has been fixed for more than 24 hours now.

I have found the paypal issues to be a pain in the neck as I just so happened to really need to use them for a number of transations yesterday.
However, that being said there's no way i'm about to leave them just because of this issue. They're not going anywhere any time soon IMO.

Seriously now, lost about $500 today because of paypal's "global malfunction".

Most online retailers including Walmart have integrated Paypal. And, since Paypal is associated with (created by makers of) Ebay, I doubt they will go out of business anytime soon. It's just a glitch. And, many sites are experiencing it.

The only issue I had with PayPal for the last few days is when it didn't notify me right away for a client's payment. Well, I guess that's Gmail's fault. But other than that and the stupid charges, I see no problem with Paypal.

YEP! I was at a company where payroll was delayed about 2 WEEKS because of a Y2K problem. This WAS around 2000. This is one reason why I try to have my mortgage payment PULLED, as opposed to being pushed, and I check things periodically.

I have been seeing the messages everywhere but luckily I have still been able to get payments from 3 different sites via PayPal. I did however encounter 2 payments that had to be reviewed before they released them. Paypal ends, we hit the Great Depression all over again!
