Ask yourself - Are you hustling hard enough?

Rarely does a day pass without me reading another post here on the Warrior Forum from a failing entrepreneur.

You know the posts I'm talking about...

"I've been Internet Marketing for 2 years and haven't made any money. I'm ready to quit"

If you are next in line to post one of these threads, before you do so, ask yourself - have you really hustled your ass off to make your Online business a success?

If not, what do you think gives you the divine right for success?

Let me tell you the real secret of success...

Every successful marketer that you know has worked their ass off at one point or another.
..

When they've built up a huge fan base and a responsible list they can take their foot off the gas...

But when they first started they dug deep to get their name out there.
..

So rather than whining to your friends on Skype about your failures, start doing something positive. If you're not spending every free moment creating promotional videos, blog posts, writing articles, creating products or whatever it may be, then your business isn't failing, you are failing...

We all get into 'Internet Marketing' because we're chasing freedom in one way or another, but some of us forget that we have to earn the right to be free...

Work hard and succeed!

There are no free lunches out there. But a lot of hard work in the early days will pay off in the end

That's something I have never done and it's something I wonder a lot about.

I have always struggled to some degree to make what I do about me. I love helping people and I have a lot of unique experience, but something always prevents me from wanting to shout about it. I've created a lot of products and services to help others but I have never really gone out shouting my name. I see others do it, and I see newbies who still know very little and have limited experience marketing themselves as experts and selling coaching and it does make me wonder whether I'm getting in my own way.

I can't decide whether they shouldn't be doing it - or I should

Andy, you must be one of the many guys who is making a good living under the radar and fair play to you - it's a better way of doing it if you can, I personally wouldn't want fame either!

But I can bet my bottom dollar that you've grafted at one point or another!

I was just going from the known 'guru' angle because so many of their products suggest huge income can be made with little work and newbies might think the guru has never worked hard on their own business. They couldn't be more wrong!

They probably shouldn't be coaching. You should.

You were at this before some of these new marketers left high
      school.

You also have integrity and you genuinely care about people.

Doing coaching would be a fantastic service you could do to
      the internet marketing community.

It takes some people a long time to realize that they have a very
high level of expertise compared to others in a profession or an
      industry.

Sometimes you need to hang out with some of the big names you
really have tremendous respect for before you realize that you
      really do know your stuff.

      Kindest regards,

You owe it to those who need your help to get your voice out there Andy.

      Hi Andy,

If you're not comfortable with constant self promotion, then you should be hiring or partnering with people who can do it for you.

Let them focus on getting in front of the prospective customers, selling them on your expertise and closing the deal. Then you step in, do a killer job and look like a superstar!

Personally speaking, self promotion doesn't come naturally to me, but I learned the hard way that you NEED to do it in order to get ahead.

Too many lost opportunities that went to people with a LOT less knowledge, ability and ethics than me, simply because I didn't feel comfortable promoting myself.

I've gotten better over the years, but at the end of the day, if it's a challenge for you, then just make it a non-issue by getting someone else to do it for you.

      Good luck.

        True words.

I think the problem with IM as far as people wanting to give up so soon has to do with the over abundance of promises to get rich quick and the SUPER over abundance of misconceptions placed out there that making money online is easy! Then, as most will find out, having an online business is most certainly NOT a get rich quick business model, and it most certainly is NOT easy... especially nowadays.

If more products, videos, tutorials, blog posts, articles, etc. would just tell the friggin' truth about what to expect with having a BUSINESS online, I think there will much less people feeling like giving up, and instead they would have realistic expectations and would treat having an online business for what it is... a BUSINESS.

I think the IDEA of working online is far DIFFERENT to what most people expect.

Due to the nature of the work, being able to work from home and not have to do what the 'boss' tells you it sounds awesome.

In actual fact - and I am not speaking for everyone - for me I have worked harder at IM than I have at any job. 7 days a week and most of time 8-10 hours a day.

When I have a product launch on the way or am promoting a new product I sometimes work 12+ hours a day.

I have also found the most invaluable thing in IM is the ability to produce content and that means a hell of a lot of typing!

Sure you can outsource but when you are testing a niche for profits that is not feasible as you want to make a return.

PPC is there but again you need the outlay.

I have NEVER found a time when I can sit back and think "Yes, I have made it I don't need to do anything else!"

The MOST important thing is to ask: "Do I enjoy this?" if the answer is "No I am just doing it for the money" then it may be time to look elsewhere.

          Just my 2 pence.

I cannot agree more on what you're saying. You really need to be hands-on in order to be successful. As a marketer you must either do things yourself or outsource stuff... so basically, you choose whether you want to invest "Time" or "Money".

If you want the easy way out, you invest money... Most people who fail IM invest time and this route does work but it takes long so that is why people quit. Not to say it doesn't work, it does work, just be dedicated and believe in what you're doing and stop whining you'll be fine.

The key is knowing exactly what is most important to your business

    1. Drilling into, listening and hearing your market
    2. Producing/finding products/services that add value to your market
    3. Building your channel to communicate with your market
    4. Selling

This should be what you do every breathing moment of your day outside of time you devote to family and health...

As for Andy's comment, I've seen two kinds of uber-successful (is that even a word!) entrepreneuers and both are built on getting yourself "out there" - 1) The first kind is the Type-A, self-promotional type guy like a Gary Vaynerchuck who I follow - built his entire business on being in his market's face or 2) The middleman experts who may not have direct customer "uberness" but have developed critical relationships with other key front-men in the industry where they play the "silent" genius behind the lead players.

What's interesting about #2 is that you still need to get "out there" in terms of building the relationships with that network of pro's, but you don't need to be building your personal brand direct to consumer.

    Hi 4dayweekend,

You're totally right and I am half-half! I have periods when I really dig in and work like a dog and sometimes I just muddle about! It also annoys me when I see these threads because in all honesty, most of those guys KNOW VERY WELL, that they aren't doing enough! I am honest about it when i say that I could put in 5 more hours into it so I don't go writing " it doesn't work, I quit"! Wallowing in self-pity is not something I like unless there's a good reason!

That's a really good post but some will be offended like " how dare you?' lol! Well, you're totally right! It's good to have motivators like yourself. And, by the way, it's the same for everything; studies, sports etc!

When I was swimming in a team we had a rule....whenever we'd done 100 lanes...and were knackered, we were given another 10 to do! Just to push yourself over and get you to realise that you can DO EVEN MORE even though you're tired! And, yes it hurt, but it paid off!

Top classical pianists and other musicians play 8 hours a day or more! That's there "BIG SECRET"! Work till you drop!

    So, better get going now!

    Yoan

I think some people come here looking for release and relief - whether they find it or not I don't know. But I am always amazed at the number of people that jump in and prop up these folks. It's one of the reasons I think this forum is what it is.

Having said that, my struggle has been working smarter. I have no problem working hard, but I am constantly looking for better more effective ways to be a good marketer. That's been my journey.

This is a great place for advice and catharsis it seems. Endurance, in my mind is what ultimately leads to the vicissitude of fortunes. I'm sure there has been plenty of that in this forum also.

4DayWeekend, I agree with you, sometimes what we all need is to feel the forceful thrust of another's footwear on our buttocks.

You hit it on the head. Im glad you shared some of this tough love other IM'ers and hope other IM'ers can see. It not always about making a quick buck, it about creating a long and sustainable business. One will have to pay their dues and put in the sweat equity before they will be able to see any returns on their business. The ones out there looking for a quick buck wont last too long in this business or any other business.

it is really a shame that most people do not realize that you actually have to do something daily. There are too many promises of overnight riches and people need to realize it takes WORK!

You also have to test things out for yourself try new things becasue there is no cookie cutter solution in business.
