How To Get Leads Without Using Public Information

I was wondering how I could get some leads for my writing ebook. Basically, the ebook is about how to break into the writing business including online ezines to send your writing to. I was thinking about Craigslist, but now most of the cities, you have to pay an outstanding $25 just to post, which I think is ridiculous. Anyway, is there anyway that I could get some fresh leads? I was thinking about using free classified ads as well to get email addresses, but I only know of Inetgiant that releases email info. Any suggestions would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

    Write articles for writing magazines and papers with a bio
    Write and post articles
    Contact webmasters to see if you could trade any kind of services in return for them running an ad for you.
    Craigslist is usually free in the smaller areas.
    Run a classified ad on Ebay.
    Run classified ads in writing magazines, papers.
    Run classified ads in alternative papers in the big cities.
