Are these niches good or bad? (MMO, IM)

Make Money Online
Internet Marketing
Online Business

Would you go into these niches for blogging, affiliate marketing and perhaps product offering later on? How likely is it for one to make money here?

Overcrowded? Too much competition? Hard to get traffic? Difficult to monetize? A long uphill battle? Too expensive to make a buck? or not?

They're probably the worst markets to go into if you have little to no experience to be honest. There's enough people out there selling the dream already without having made a penny themselves. This means, of course, that you are dealing with very cynical people who are used to hyped up nonsense and useless advice. Yes, you will find it more difficult in these markets.

Why not pick something you have experience in, or are passionate about. You don't sell people on how to make money if you haven't made any yourself.

It would be hard to make a fresh start in those niches.

Everyone has the instinct to create a website about making money online when they first read and try something about it but as you said, many fail because they don't have the competence.
If you are someone who already has a career online and you have a lot of proofs of what you did and that it worked, it might be a bit easier but still harder than other niches.

Also, the niches you said are general and the cost to compete is high. If you really want to go with that you should think about the sub-niches of the making money online niche. Something like making money with facebook, twitter, google+ or making money for writing articles and so on (just to make a few examples)

On the upside these niches are already proven and have a constant and growing audience.

Currently the internet is growing at an astronomical pace of about 100, 000 new connections per day.

This growth will continue for years but not forever so my advice is get educated on proven IM business models and go with any (researched and verified) niche that you like.

The old theory is that if you cant make money in non-IM niches then how can you teach other people how to make money online..

Personally I am in a number of different niches including welding, cankles, gout, MMA and surfing.. but I am also a product creator and affiliate in the MMO niche and my biggest list is in the MMO niche.

Almost all niches are good for some people and bad for others.

I feel pretty confident that getting involved in any of those niches without plenty of really successful experience of internet marketing is the single commonest mistake that "beginning marketers" can make, and one of the most sure-fire ways of stacking the deck against themselves very heavily indeed.

They are not necessarily bad but the competition is high. You probably won't be very successful unless you REALLY know what you are doing. Regardless, if you are passionate about any of those niches then go ahead, just remember, it won't be easy.

I started my online career successfully in the MMO market...not by choice though (long story lol).

But like everyone says the competition is high, but it's not to the point where you can't break in to it.

If I was doing it all over again I would zoom in on a sub niche or maybe even a niche of a sub niche, hope that make sense.

For example, first I would learn how to generate traffic. Then learn how to generate traffic with the top social media platforms. Now I will focus on generating traffic with linkedin only or facebook only.

Then you can blog about it, create your own products, hold webinars, JV with others who have the same interest, etc.

    Definitely profitable markets...

If there's a lot of competition it means that there is money to be made...

Also, it doesn't matter what level you are if you want to get started in the IM niche, but just make sure you drill down to a sub-niche before you start your blog.

If you study business and marketing then you shouldn't have much of a problem differentiating.

That's one niche. People just call it different stuff. All profitable markets (those worth going after) have competition. That's not a bad thing. It just means there's more stuff to promote. Regardless of the niche, you're in, the work is the same. With that said, you shouldn't go into the IM niche until you've had success outside of it and know how distinguish quality stuff from stuff that sucks (lots of it out there).

    Yours in online success,
    Joey

I would recommend sitting down and thinking about where exactly your expertise is and build off of that. The more specific you are the more you can make yourself stand out.

All these niches are good but there is a lot of competition. On the other hand high competition indicates that there is money to be made in the niche.

Look for long tail keywords for which ranking high on Google may be easier. Look beyond Google and find traffic sources like YouTube or paid traffic to drive visitors. If you think out of the box you will find ways to make money even when the competition is high.

It is never hard to get traffic. It is when you don't know what you are doing. It is very easy once you know what works and what does not work for you.

Once you work with the right programs, you can succeed. You need to work with programs that can pay you residual income and from the efforts of other people who are interested to make money online too.

Building a successful internet business takes time but it is all worth it.

The Internet marketing, home business, make money etc. niche is competitive, but that is true for most broad theme markets until you narrow them down a little bit. I make money in multiple niches including travel, weight loss, and so on. The trick is to narrow them down such as vacation club travel, hcg diet loss, etc.

Same thing with Internet marketing and make money at home. Try things like work from home doing medical billing, or Internet marketing for real estate agents, or Internet marketing for real estate agents in Denver, Colorado.

You get the idea. You need marketing skills no matter what niche you choose and then work in multiple sub niches.

They're not niches. They're HUGE markets. The only chance you have is to actually go with real niches.

There are money in these HUGE markets, otherwise there wouldn't be so much competition. And if you will get your part out of this pie, even if it's a very very small part - it might be more than you dreamed about

What I would suggest is start small & start smart.

Master small portion of your subniche, make a really useful content, solve very specific problems for the real people. Gain their respect and authority, money will come afterwards.

They are good niches IF you've make money in non MMO niches (at least $5K per month).

If you're starting out and have never made a nickel online, don't start with MMO. What on earth could you possibly teach?

I strongly recommend you go into a niche you love and that's profitable other than MMO/blogging, build up a sustainable business to the tune of $5K per month, then fire an MMO website. That's what I did (I waited until I was consistently earning more than $10K per month in non-MMO niches).

There will always be room in MMO niches for newcomers who make money online in non-MMO niches. In fact, if you create a non-MMO business, you won't have a hard time breaking into the MMO niche.
