How I Jacked Tim Ferriss for $3,879

I've made $3,879 in the past 6 weeks by jacking a Tim Ferriss video.

No, it's not what it sounds like. I'm sure he would appreciate what I did.

If you've ever been to his blog, you know that he posts some amazing stuff. I'm always on the hunt for viral YouTube videos. I often use them as entertaining content for my list.

So, to make $3,879, I simply embedded one of Tim's video on my website and mentioned it in my newsletter. I told them to forward the email to their friends if they like the video. I put some Adsense ads under the video and cashed in.

It was amazing how people started referring others to the page and it went viral. People were sending me thank you emails as if I created the video. All this and I didn't ask them to buy anything.

Here's the video - Video From The Recipe Secrets Newsletter

If you notice, there is not much else to do on that page after watching the video except click the ads. This is a great way to use Adsense. I don't really care if they leave my site because they're on my list and they'll be back.

If you have any amazing videos you'd like me to jack, let me know LOL.

      Link works for me.

Funny thing is, my father watched that video this morning. It had been forwarded to him by someone he eMails with.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

So, you used your list to generate that revenue?

That is amazing. I'll have to remember this when I get a decent-size list built up.

Very cool. The neat thing is the video showed a great tip/trick and that is the whole thing about something going viral. Well done!

I like this...you could put a few things under that video...

    *Pay Per Click Ads
    *Pay Per Action
    *Create a $7 report

    ;-)

It's funny, everyone preaches that CPA ads & affiliate programs will make you more than Adsense but in my testing I've always made more using this strategy with Adsense.

I think it's because of what they're expecting when they get to the site. They're expecting to get a free video and that's it. They only click the ads because there is nothing left to do on the page.

That mentality is not one that's conducive to selling something. Even if it's a free trial CPA offer.

    Excellent strategy there!

I just had a small question. Is it okay to put Adsense in a page containing only a video (with little or no text), i.e. complying with Adsense's TOS?

Thanks again for this! I'm starting to feel it's potential.

Your idea is great!. This is one of the benefits of of having a
list of suscribers, you doesn't even send them an affiliate link,
they don't even buy nothing, they simply click on the adsense.

    Very smart idea!

    Thanks to share this information

    Ron,

This rocks. Bothe the video and the idea.

Ron, may I ask a couple questions:

How often do you change the video and e-mail your list?

How careful do you have to be to match up the tags on the video and the content on your site in order to get good ads?

Am I making this too complicated?

Thanks for sharing. This is a GREAT idea.

The video remains on that page on the site indefinitely. If I find a new video I want to share, I create a new page.

You could actually do some research on the tags and the Adsense payout, but really I just look for a video that my list would like.

I've also done this successful with other things besides just video. Anything that's interesting and viral. For example, I've been making money from this page for nearly a year:

    1) How did you track that?
    2) Why does your Google Adsense show that you created it in 2006?
------Which if you did and didn't use it for anything else, that is fine.
    3) And there are no analytics on that page?

    Please let us know!

    Thanks!

    Pretty Good technique!

I have cashed in with similar tactics in the past.
It's similar to affiliate marketing, you use someones else product to cash in and a guy like Tim Feriss will thank you since you are promoting his video.
$3,879 in 6 weeks from adsense is pretty impressive

    Keep up the good work

I have used the same techniques.. for years.

    Here's another one:

You can do the same thing with fear factors as well:

Right now, there is a new virus going around called Conficker..

So you can easily email your list and let them know to forward this message on to make sure everyone is free of this virus..

AND meanwhile, you have the Adsense setup and you have your affiliate links setup as well!!! I love this idea of creating viral "pass this message along" type of marketing.

    Thanks for the post!
