Aweber is Screwing Me Over!!!

Today I recently looked over my Aweber payment and realized that I've been paying$29.00 a month for just 1,471 subscribers in Aweber.

Meanwhile their site says...

Affordable Email Marketing - Price Your AWeber Account

Subscribersup to 500501-2,5002,501-5,0005,001-10,00010,001-25,00025,001+PricingIncluded$10$30$50$130contact us

What the hell am I paying so much for and their site clearly states my subscribes aren't in the 2,501 range to be paying $29.00 a month?

Is this false advertisement?

Maybe some of you gurus can help me out.

----

Nvm they said that I'm paying for starage fee... did anyone know about such storage fees for subscribers?

    501-2,500 = extra $10

    $19 + $10 = $29

Email marketing can be pretty expensive. Unless you are profiting from your list, I would move on to a cheaper service.

        Cheaper than $29/month? Seriously?

There becomes a time when you need to treat this like a REAL business and not a game.

If you aren't prepared to pay $29/month on such an important part of your business then you really should find a different business model. If you aren't making enough money from your list to cover the $30 fee then yes, I would find another business model because it's obviously not working for you.

WHY would you EVER have an e-mail list with the intention of being UN-profitable???? True, it can take some time to become profitable and in the meantime, you just have to bite the bullet. But sheesh!!!

AWeber is still one of the best e-mail list services out there and I don't recommend any others. But moving your list because you're unprofitable is NOT the answer. Focusing on turning a profit IS the answer.

Sorry to be so blunt, but this is just HORRIBLE business advice.

Unless of course, you're just playing at this, treating it like a hobby. Then certainly, by all means, move to a cheaper service. Then it doesn't matter that you get what you pay for.

The OP should have investigated this further before posting this. His subject line is harmful to AWeber, making it seem like they're not providing what they say they will or giving bad customer service.

It's unfair. Another case of a customer who doesn't bother to take the time to educate himself and deal in a business-like fashion with a company or marketer before trashing them and their reputation publicly. Grrr!

AWeber is excellent and I've never had a problem with them.

(I signed up for AWeber way back when and have unlimited autoresponders for a flat $19/mo. )

Yes, it's actually explained very clearly in their terms of service, and so on.

(You need to delete people who unsubscribe, by the way, and people on 2 lists are counted twice).

This. You get charged for the amount of subscribers you have

But that's kind of what the OP's problem is I guess.

The 'bait' is as large as life and SCREAMS at you.

      ONLY $19 MONTHLY

The 'switch' is buried away in their reams and reams
of text in their 'terms of service'.

I'm not just bitching on Aweber of course, it's standard
practice in any kind of marketing.

      Steve

PS: I notice they've made some kind of effort at least to
make it a bit clearer which might save some other unsuspecting
      IM'r in the future.

I do an unsub clearout regularly so I don't tip myself into another price band.

          Question regarding that very thing.

I do this all the time as well to keep prices down.

But it's a pain in the backside when you have a heap of lists and have to go through each list one by one deleting all the unsubs.

Does Aweber currently have a feature where you can just choose to delete ALL unsubscribes from ALL lists?

I haven't yet found the feature but is not to say they don't have one.

But it wouldn't surprise me if they don't. The harder they make it for people to remove the unsubscribes the more subscribers are left in the system and the more money they make, obviously.

If that feature exists I haven't found it.

Like you I go through each list and delete.

LMAO.. I know exactly what's going on. I had this exact same problem and hit them up to get a refund because I was 100% it was mistake on their end..

When people unsubscribe, they are still considered "on your list" because they are apart of your database. You need to clean out your unsubs at least once a month..

another problem which is why I originally hit them up is if you have an email list that you built but it's not responsive and you delete the list, it goes into I believe a 30 day hold or something like that.

You can reactivate that list at anytime in those 30 days which means once again, they are still on your list.

To get rid of people, you must delete them from your list. I just got hit with an extra $20 a month last month because I didn't do that. No worries. once you're making money, it's just a shake of the head, delete those unsubs and on with your day

Hope that helps.. If not, I suggest hitting up Customer support

Oh dudes. You should have joined Aweber years ago.

I am still on their old pricing plan which is $19 for 10,000 leads and only $10 for every extra 10,000 leads

Sorry, just had to rub it in...

Aweber is not trying to screw you in any way.

You are paying the $19 plus the $10 for going over the 501.

Plus, make sure that you never add your existing subscribers to a new list on the same account. This will count towards you total.

If you take 300 people that you have on list 1 and add them to list 2, this will count as 600 subscribers.

Well I don't necessarily agree with that.

There are plenty of instances where having people on different lists makes a LOT of sense. It means your messages to them will be much more targeted.

Yes, you do get charged everytime that subscriber is on a list but that's definitely not a reason to never do it.

While I agree with Wills comment above, this is an important part of your
business, lets not forget Aweber isn't the only game in town.

I've been a big fan of self hosted solutions for years and would never
go back to Aweber or Get Response again.

I am in complete control of my most valuable asset and nobody can
dictate terms and conditions to me. I can leave my unsubs on as long
as I want and not get charged up the wazoo for the privilege.

Using 3rd part smtp relays, who do this for a living, ensures delivery
rate is as good, if not better, than the commercial AR vendors. And
if I ever notice a drop in delivery rates, I can just move to another
    smtp company, easy as pie.

    Take care

    Steve
