So I'm promoting an offer that just switched from Clickbank to HasOffers. I'm still collecting a lot of rebills in Clickbank, but have not met the minimum 5 credit card transactions so that Clickbank will release payment.

Everyone uses PayPal.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get 5 people to use credit cards instead of PayPal, or otherwise get Clickbank to release payment?

Thanks!

Many people use paypal because they are afraid of credit cards. I have both and I am always using paypal for my online payments. So from my point of view, they are going to go the easy way out unless you got some good reasons to why they should.

Well a really easy way to add one more credit card would be to simply buy a cheap product (there are a couple under $5) using your affiliate link and your own credit card. Maybe get your friends/family to do the same?

    Hope that helps!

      This ^^^ is the solution.

There are some products that sell for about $4. There's a good chocolate cake recipe e-book for about $5 (it pays commission, too!). You need to get two or three (maybe?) people to buy it through your affiliate link, to qualify under the customer distribution requirement.

It's a pain in the neck, but you only ever have to do it once.

Note: the requirement is for five different credit-cards, not for 5 different customers paying by credit-card (i.e. you can do it twice in two different transactions with two different cards. I'm "just saying"!).

When I ran into this problem, I had my family buy the chocolate cake recipe. Worked great with no problems. It is what I suggest.

Yes it was lol. I actually made it and took a pic. I then pasted it to facebook. Made a few sales with it. I will see if I can find the picture. This was a long time ago.

I should become an affiliate for this product, too. I can't even remember who the vendor is, now, but s/he's probably made quite a few sales just through people mentioning it here as a way of fulfilling the customer distribution requirement: maybe not exactly what s/he had in mind, in originally listing the product.

LOL, I'm glad we all had the conversation anyway, because I was unaware of the "Mocha" product Dave unearthed, and I can see that one being mentioned again in future threads.

You don't get into trouble for using your own affiliate link?

Clickbank doesnt really care about anything. They still get the same amount of money either way and so does the vendor. I did this a few years ago when i was trying to get CB to release like $400 for me and it worked like a charm.

No. It's permitted. If you engage ClickBank staff in conversation on the subject, some will simply say that it's permitted; some will say that they "frown on it"; I've even heard one person saying he was told by someone at ClickBank that he "shouldn't" do it (this part is second-hand information only - I've never been told that, myself).

I wouldn't ever buy through your own affiliate-link and then ask for a refund as well, though. It's impression only, but I think this might really be "pushing their tolerance". It's definitely not something I'd feel comfortable doing. The only times I ever buy through my own affiliate link (I say "the only times" but I've done it often!) are when a vendor won't give me a review copy of a product I might want to promote as an affiliate. That's their right, obviously. Under those circumstances (which do arise), I have no hesitation in buying through my own link. Then I never ask for a refund, even if the product turns out to be hopeless nonsense I wouldn't ever dream of promoting. My logic there is that I bought it for review, and I reviewed it, so it would be cheeky for me to ask for a refund when I've served my own purpose in reviewing it, even if I didn't like it. My own personal opinion is that if vendors don't like that, they shouldn't be selling their product on ClickBank. All this paragraph is my own personal opinion and personal policy only!

I don't at all disrespect vendors who won't use ClickBank simply because they object to people being allowed to buy through their own affiliate links (there are some - I was told that by one of them): that's their business, not mine. But if they want me to promote it, they have to accept that I'm allowed to buy a copy through my own affiliate link - that's my business, not theirs, because it's permitted by ClickBank, and I'm buying it from ClickBank, which is a retailer.

Plenty of people, however, have bought a very cheap product (or two, with two different credit-cards) through their own links for the purpose of fulfilling the CDR, and this part's "simply factual".

I have considered doing that. I guess I'll just have to start tugging shirt sleeves and get people to use their credit cards for me.

I've also considered finding an offer to promote to traffic from India, or some country that doesn't accept PayPal.

find a really low priced product, and pay your friends the amount and see if they will do it for you. just explain to them why and they should be pretty understanding.

Well I got a sale first thing this morning, and it was a credit card. Woot! Ask and you shall recieve. 2 down, 3 to go. This new list of mine so incredibly responsive compared to anything I've done before. I think I'll hold out for just a bit longer and see if I can just do this the old fashioned way.

I'm sorry, but this is news to me, does Clickbank withhold your commission as an affiliate or royalties as a vendor if people pay by credit card? (i.e. the 5 credit card rule you've mentioned).

I've just started researching about CB as both an affiliate and vendor and haven't come across the credit card rule.

    Thanks!

No ... this refers to the "customer distribution requirement" - explained here: https://www.clickbank.com/accounting.html#A15

It's (successfully) designed to protect affiliates from what be the otherwise unmanageable and unworkable situation in which our customers would all buy products through their own affiliate links to earn their own commissions. Thanks to the Customer Distribution Requirement, in reality this is actually a problem only in IM/MMO-related niches.

Ordered the $3.95 deal from above and had a family member order too. Now should have a decent size check on the way (not from these 2 sales, duh). Thanks for all the good info in this post. I like the idea of using your own link to purchase a product for review purposes.

Nooooo, you won't get rich off those two.

Let me know if the moccha's any good, though; I'm a regular moccha drinker.
