How do you run multiple websites?

At the moment I am attempting to run multiple blogs, the main aim really is to write about what I love as opposed to money, although of course money is always good so they are monetized and I do have a mailing list on each. So for those that have multiple blogs, how do you plan your time?

For me I have 6 blogs and they each need at least 5 new posts a week. The posts are always made on exactly the same day and I write all of the content myself. At the start of every month I draw up a list of updates that gets stuck up on my wall. This details exactly what I need to do each day. (i run a couple of eCommerce websites too, and I add products to the range on a weekly basis so this is added to the list of when they need to be added to the site). The updates for the blogs take place every day of the week, so at least one blog is being updated each day.

Every Sunday I draw up a list of every blog post that needs to be written over the next week. I then print this off.

I then print off a second load of information which details the points I want to cover in each article as well as information on how each post can be monetized or not. (it doesn't matter if it can't) this means identifying Amazon Products, Clickbank or Tradedoubler adverts to display. The information sheets cover about 5-6 pages as the descriptions get highly detailed.

Am I over complicating things? How do you do it?

    If I were you, I will outsource the content and the traffic and will only focus on getting a high converting product to promote or create my own product or optimize my squeeze pages to convert well.

      I would never outsource articles. I enjoy writing them and I only really trust myself to do exactly what I want! Managing articles is easy. I do it day in/day out, so I have the process down to a tee. I create all of my own products too (including the 'free report' downloads for each page) however the goal really is to share about things that I like. I make around $32 a day total from each of them anyway, sometimes more. This may not seem like a lot but it is exactly what I need to pay rent, and all for about 2 hours work a day!

    So what is your point to post your topic here? Do you feel you over complicate it? If not then don't worry.

    Since you said you like the writing stuff then do it, as I will do it too if I like it. However, I like the SEO thing but I still outsource some to add more traffic.

    BTW, I have more than 400 domains before but I trimmed it down to around 80 last year when I feel I over complicate myself. Since you said you have 6 blogs then, it is still easy to manage.

      I just wished to find out how people planned their blogging for a week to find out more effective methods. Which was my point of posting this topic. Sure, 6 blogs isn't many as most people, but I was still interested just to get a few tips, but oh well.

          myob, do you use Project alone, or do your VAs/content providers etc use it together with you? How many sites can you manage in it? Does it get to be too overwhelming at some point (I understand you have lots of sites).

            I have managers and employees with various levels of access depending upon what projects have been assigned to them. Although I also use Microsoft addons such as Microsoft Office Project Server and Microsoft Project Web Access with a central SQL-based database, the standard edition of MS Project should be well more than adequate for the average user. Scalability through software enhancements and expansion are always an option.

    Ya you definitely need to outsource the content otherwise you will have no time to market your sites, and marketing is something you can't outsource...

    You should focus your time on marketing instead of spewing out tons of content.

    Hi there,

    Draw a list of what's the most important thing to you? And, what's the most-time consuming! I'd outsource some of it! Content probably, but anything else- depending on how you're running your business! There comes a time when you have to delegate, but I haven't been able to do so really well! I outsourced a few things and were not happy but that doesn't mean it's all bad! Setting your priorities is probably going to save you time and money!

    I think most marketers with that many blogs outsource as much of the tedious work as possible.

    If you just want to write, you could outsource a lot of the other stuff.

    For example, you could write the article and send it to someone else who reviews it for possible products and monetization, then goes and find the products and embeds the links etc.

    They could then send the work (or do it themselves) to another person who uploads the articles to the various blogs.

    But if you are doing all the work yourself on 6 blogs then feeling overwhelmed probably isn't because you're not organized.
