How to drive traffic to eBay auctions?

What are some good methods of driving traffic to your eBay auctions?

Of course, most listings only last like 3 days, 5 days or 7 days or even 30 days if you use eBay classifieds so not much point in doing SEO on them.

I'm assuming a good way is wherever there is traffic and demand for the item you are selling. That be forums, blogs, social networks etc just off the top of my head. But again, once that auction has ended, people will be visiting a sold auction.

So what are some good methods to drive traffic to an eBay auction/listing?

Thanks!

  • Well,

It all has to do with the 'views to actions ratio'

A lot of people think 'selling it for a lower price' will drive traffic, but that is a HUGE misnomer - because the default 'sort by' technique is BEST MATCH not 'PRICE PLUS SHIPPING LOWEST FIRST'

So, how do your increase your ACTIONS?

Well, first you need to know what actions ARE

    1. Bids
    2. Watchers
    3. Offers/counteroffers
    4. Sales

Maximizing these will help you rank highers since eBay wants to RANK the listings that will convert at higher prices, higher in their search engine. (Because they make more money in final value fees if they do)

In order to understand WHICH actions to acquire - you need to know WHICH format sells for the highest price on your item - either auction or fixed price.

(Not more often --- people confuse that all the time... you can sell your item VERY WELL, and FAST, and at a HIGH PRICE by RANKING IT HIGH --- not by 'researching if other people have a high turnover')

So - BEFORE you sell your item - research the FORMAT and PRICE the items sells HIGHEST for, then expoit your listings to maximize your views to actions ratio.

A few ideas to consider. First... your headline is critical to attract bidders. Next consider posting in appropriate forums and use them to drive to your offer (don't overdo this). Third creatie a squeeze page to build a list and then use email marketing. Cheers
