How should I handle my seasonal sites?

I have a few amazon affiliate sites that get decent traffic and sales in December, but are really slow during the rest of the year.

It's a blog style site where I post products/reviews. Should I continue to spend the time posting products throughout the year or should I focus my time elsewhere and only start posting on those sites again around November?

Almost none of the traffic they get is from search engines.

Well if you make sales during the holiday season (December) then I think what you should do is create a bunch of different sites that follow the same blueprint of your site but make other sites focused on other holidays like easter, halloween, whatever other ones you want and then you can get sales throughout the year and can bulk up the content on each individual site as the busy season approaches

  • Good question constantchange,

I would say that you should continue on throughout the year. For many businesses, they are active all year round so it can take a while to realize benefits from their SEO initiatives. In your case, you have a sort of head start in that you can develop and optimize posts in the beginning of the year and by the time your busy season roles around you should be ranking some pages pretty well.

Here is a good post about seasonal related (local) seo,

I have a lot of seasonal sites. Really seasonal, like Christmas in the game. I forget about them from 10 months of the year, as it's no good driving traffic to an Xmas site in January!

I personally wouldn't keep updating them through the year. I think your time could be better spent following thedanbrown's idea of creating other holiday type sites:
