| Speaking from your experience of social bookmarking your content, pages etc...(Digg, Reddit) Does social bookmarking bring in targeted traffic for: -opt ins -sales (of info products for example)? (NOTE: I am not asking for social bookmarking for traffic through the link on your article - NOT for Link building SEO purposes- but traffic generated from the bookmarked content, as soon as you bookmark it) does social bookmarking bring you targeted traffic? does it get you a good number of optins? does it get you a good number of sales? can you share your strategies if you are doing well with social bookmarking to drive you traffic (so we can prevent making mistakes) Share your methods please |

Yes. and No. It depends on how you do it, where you do it, how much you do, and how often you do it. It's like anything else - you can 'work' it so that you get results or you can just do a half-assed effort and waste your time. The mistake most people make with bookmarking is to just bookmark their own stuff and think that it will be enough to get others to do the same. |

I believe that if you want to receive traffic, you must make friends and make basically a community and bookmark other people's stuff in order to generate more friends who will bookmark your links.

Social bookmarking traffic is not always that relevant or highly converting. Where it can help you out is in organic search rankings.

I agree with Andy, it's how you do it. You need content that is "buzzworthy" to see any sizable traffic. Not something many people can do. Not something I've achieved ![]() Funny, I see services such as buying diggs, but if the content is not viral, you'll probably waste your money. The content needs to carry itself, grow on its own. Least my thoughts. |

The social bookmarking sites's traffic are not so targeted in nature. You have to join the community & build relationships in order to have better conversion via influence.

Social bookmarking can definitely help you get exposure, though, and help other people see you as an expert in your field. It is just one strategy. Most of my sales come from PPC and SEO. That's how I make six figures a year, so that's what I recommend.

I would say social bookmarking is hard to get a good response. Unless you are targeting people on social networking sites that have a similar interest and there is a way of finding out their particular interest, then it is difficult as it is very untargeted. Forums and articles seem to be more targeted. |

I agree that social bookmarking is good for links to your site and for getting certain pages crawled faster, that type of thing. As far as traffic and sales? Not so much. You have to really be proactive to get that type of result.

I can't think of one off the top of my head. Seems there was one about a cat that was as big as a house, or something like that, that spread well. Was made up of course. There is defiantly an art to it. I've seen formula's that can help, but it seems many things play into it, like timing for one. Some work, some don't. | |
