Anyone Who Can Read Programming (Clickbank help)

4 replies
Hello,

No, this is not another thread on my earnings dropping. Instead I am asking for the help of a programmer who's great at reading code (Clickbank code specifically).

I tried Clickbank support, but I'm not getting anywhere with them.

Let's say for example my affiliate code is: LubbaLubba

When I view the source code for this product, it shows another name for the referralID and cbaffi.

I did a Google search for the referral name, because it's a somewhat unique name. The referral name is the same as a vendor of a gaming product on CB. I am not promoting a gaming product...

Here's the code I am referring to (I replaced this person affiliate name with BLAHBLAH1):

<!-- Tracking code for 'BLAHBLAH1' 12062012 -->
<script type="text/javascript">
if(getCookie('referralID')=="BLAHBLAH1" || urlParam("cbaffi")=="BLAHBLAH1"){
var sx = document.createElement('script');
sx.type = 'text/javascript';
sx.src = "http://pixel.sitescout.com/ap/3e1c0bf347862a7e";
var ss = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; ss.parentNode.insertBefore(sx, ss);
}
</script>
<!-- End tracking code for 'BLAHBLAH1' -->

------------

Is this normal or does this mean my referral cookie is being replaced? Thanks to anyone who can help!

    Is your affiliate nickname showing up on the ClickBank Order Form? If so, then the cookie is being set correctly.

    See 'Testing a Hoplink' in this article...
    What is a ClickBank HopLink?

    The code you are referring to is a tracking code for advertising and shouldn't affect your ClickBank referral.

    Ultimately if your affiliate nickname appears on the Order Form then it's working fine.

    It looks to me like BLAHBLAH1 simply wants to gather statistics for all his referrals. It is setting a tracking pixel at sitescout so he's probably running his own banner ads and wants to see how many land on his page from the banners.

    If a hoplink comes in with your affid, then it simply skips this code. Nobody is screwing you based on this code.

    Every site has its own cookies, and can't mess with other sites cookies so you don't need to read the code.

    The only way a site could mess with a click bank cookies is by containing code that in someway references the click bank domain. Since there is none of that going on, no problem.
