I've read about this idea of a simple membership site in a few places, and it seems easy enough, but the question is...do any of you do it and have success with it? The Strategy... 1. Setup a simple membership sales page. For something like $5-$10/month, people will get an email every week with great content or "lesson". To get them to opt in, you may want to also give away a free report. 2. On the thank you page is where they opt-in to your autoresponder where they will be signed up and a pre-loaded lesson will go out each week. 3. You load up your autoresponder for at least a year's worth of messages (48-50 messages). 4. Of course, in between some of the emails you can also promote low cost reports ($10) and maybe an affiliate product as well. That's it. Anyone do this with success? It seems like the way to go and it is all automated. |

I dont think people will fork out $5/10 a month just to get some emails every week. I think in order for this to work you need ot build a huge list of emails or do some elaborate promoting.

| As opposed to what, paying $27-$37-$47/month to read the same content posted on a password-protected membership site instead? Content is content. It doesn't matter if it is delivered via email, or posted on a web page. It's the information people are paying for, not the delivery method.

All I am saying is if you are starting it is way more difficult than what others are claiming. Its not as easy to get people to fork out money if you are new unless you have done some serious marketing to promote it. Thats all I am saying.

Another way you could do it is use the content to set up a 32 week course (or 46 or whatever number you want). Every week you can take them through one more step of the content. If you format it nicely and have a definite plan, your subscribers will be anticipating your next lesson. After you have the 32 week course put together, you can market it as a training course and start everyone at the same spot. So if they join today they start on week 1. If they start 3 months from now they will still start on week 1. This way you don't have to continually come up with new content, once the program is done all you do is market it. Then since it's a training course you could sell it for $5 or $10per week and make a lot more. I think the average membership site member will only stay in 4 to 5 months anyway, so instead of cycling members while creating more and more content, you just put everyone on the same 32 weeks that you already have done. Then you can put a big finish on your 32 week course and say "If you stay with us all the way to the end you will get this huge bonus package." This will encourage people to finish out the course because they will be looking forward to the bonus, plus they can "see the light at the end of the tunnel." It's not just a monthly investment for the rest of their life. |

It is basically straying the readers to read more by paying for membership, while blogs provide free contents every day or so? I don't like messages via email. Just my personal dislikes. |

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Global Giving Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. I have friends in Japan, none of whom -- fortunately -- were affected. But lots of people are still doing it tough. So, thank you on their behalf. | |
