How Much Would You Pay IM Mentors For Guidance?

Hi,

I am wondering how much you would pay to get help from IM Mentors.

To me, I am getting the basic information from Internet and from Warrior Forum. I will not pay a single cent for those basic information.

Occasionally, I attend Internet Seminar to interact with other Internet Marketers (I spent thousands dollars per year to attend seminar).

I would also purchase some ebooks which motivate me to go further (I spent about a few hundred per year to purchase good ebooks).

IM mentoring is worth several thousands at the least.

I never got a mentor, but I would have progressed a million times faster if I had one.

    Hard question to answer.

However, a mentor with a track record of success and a high reputation can command upwards of 5-10k.

Does that mean that you have to pay that to become successful?

    Certainly not.

I would pay $10,000 - all depending on the services i'm asking for. I would definitely pay this much if the mentor was earning $50,000 a month, or if i personally knew the mentor and they were helping me out along the way.

The value of a good mentor is priceless and those that say they would not pay a mentor are really thinking small, YES you can do it on your own but it will take you time to get to where you want to be,

A Mentor who is connected can not only advise you but also open doors to you that you could never open without their introduction and that alone is worth TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars in fact I know of 2 students of a certain mentor who recently did a WSO that grossed well over $100,000 dollars these were not big names but they were smart enough to find a mentor and coach to fastrack them to success.

Now dont get me wrong its not for everyone because a coach mentor will not do the work for you, you have to have the drive and ambition to succeed the coach is there to guide and push you but ultimately the success is yours when you work hard for it.

This sound like a great coaching mentor.

Mind if you PM me the name?
I am also looking to broaden my knowledge with mentoring.

      Most mentors are making money.
It's the people paying them that are not.

    $450 per hour.

I probably wouldn't want a mentor whose own income is such that he values his time at less than that.

I probably wouldn't want an IM mentor who charges less than my dentist (yes, I know it sounds odd, but I think it's actually quite a good comparison, in some ways: the minimum necessary standard and duration of education, experience and professionalism involved are perhaps equivalent in income terms).

And even if the mentor paid me, I definitely wouldn't go anywhere near a "mentor" who has some "opportunity" of his own to promote to me. Beware of people "routinely offering a free hour's coaching on Skype" as the way they build their own business: they have something to sell you that they can't sell any other way.

Suppose you want to learn, let's say, Japanese :-) And you are highly motivated to learn it as you know it will help you get a great job with lots of money. Would books, seminars, forums be enough for you? Will it be a faster process than hiring a teacher to help you? Are you willing to pay some good money for greater and faster results knowing that you will make that money back once you start your work?
    Think about that.
    And good luck :-)

I totally agree with Alexa... but at the same time...there are a lot of good people out there. Who have happy positive vibes and just enjoying their success. They want to help others. They want to help their family, friends, but maybe those groups are too scared. And so these successful IM's ultimately turn to helping strangers.

I've been helped the same way, too, so I know it's possible.

Sadly, that's not the case. They don't value YOUR time, but that doesn't mean they don't value THEIR time.

Well it probably means they don't value anyones time.

I see it all the time...

n00b - "Man, can you help me, I've been at this for 2 years and haven't made a cent"
guru - "Sure, my rates are $500 a month for a minimum of 5 months. When would you like to get started?"
n00b - "WHAT? I can't afford that. I'll figure it out on my own."

        2 years later......

n00b - "Man, I've wasted another 2 years messing around, and STILL haven't made any money. I've spent $4,000 on stupid WSO's and all these other courses that are total crap. Internet marketing sucks! I give up!"

    Whatever I had to invest.

My mentor was Craig Desorcy. With his guidance, which isn't cookie cutter but unique to each individual (I hate cookie cutter mentors who have a "spiel" they give out), I went from five to six figures.

That's been life changing! Except maybe I'll kick his butt for putting me in a tax bracket where the dirty government has too big a hold on my money (but that's a rant for another day lol.

You have to keep in mind that yes, there's TONS of free information online. Enough to get you started, yes! But it's the ones who get stuck and need to advance that do best with a GOOD mentor (not all mentors are good - in fact, I'd say they're rare).

I agree with whoever said to make sure they're not getting you to pay for mentoring AND trying to get you to buy another program simultaneously.

A mentor should be able to analyze YOUR situation - every one of us is 100% unique. Thank God there's not another one of me floating around, right?

So once he (or she) sees what is holding you back, s/he should be able to help you NOT just by TELLING you a solution (do this, do that). That's not mentoring. A true mentor guides you into learning HOW to problem solve yourself.

It's like that old saying about giving a man fish versus teaching him HOW to fish. A bad mentor flat out tells you do this, do that, because that way you have to keep coming back for the next instructions.

A good mentor feels pride when you don't need him anymore.

Good mentors and coaches are invaluable, and can shorten the journey to success greatly. But just jumping into the deep end of the pool with a reputable mentor before having your own act together may very well be counter productive.

The first thing you should do is survey the internet marketing landscape and assess your own interests and abilities. That doesn't mean you should hang out in the WSO forum looking for every new guaranteed way to make $7823.56 per month within the next 60 days. But it does mean you should do some reading, find out what interests you, then do some deeper research on your own to figure out what it is you think you want to do. That time invested in research can save you from spending months working on something that you decide you hate.

You should only seek a mentor after you have done that soul searching. Then you can go to work finding a mentor knowledgeable about what it is you want to do.

Not if he's referring to this forum, it's not. There are some great coaches and mentors here, but there are far more who have simply figured out that it's their fastest way to make money.

    Hello!

I took a 1 year break from IM and on my return I definitely needed help to get back "in the swing of thing"

Someone in the thread mentioned "valuing your time". I found that some mentors do NOT value our time at all.

One particular mentor took 30 minutes to teach me a specific task, his videos were clearly explained in a professional and efficient manner.

Another mentor was taking almost 3 hours to teach exactly the same task. Why??? Because she did not value her student's time. In her videos a lot of time we are left hanging about whilst she is trying to work a way through a task, the course is sometimes stopped in mid air whilst she answers her front door, etc..... and to top it all, some of her material is out of date!

So finding a mentor who values your time (amongst other things of course) is crucial!
