Kindle Book Publishing Success

Hi there, I have been looking at getting into Kindle book publishing for a few months now, wondering if there is some success stories out there you would like to share, or if you know of the best place to learn about succeeding in this field. Thanks a bunch

A little over a year ago I published my first book on Kindle. Literally I "wrote" it in my head on the drive home (about half an hour), then put it all down on paper (Word) as soon as I got home. I created a quick cover and uploaded. Nothing for about 2 months, then all of the sudden I started getting checks. That inspired me to write more. So I did. Now I have 18 books for sale and my typical checks are about $1000 but the holiday rush should get me more ($1800 due in Feb).

If you want to get into Kindle publishing, just buy Geoff Shaw's Kindling. I've bought a lot of other Kindle courses, but I keep coming back to his. It's well worth every penny.

    Doubt everything you believe.

I really appreciate this response, more than you know actually. I have written some pretty in depth ebooks for clients in the past who have paid me thousands of dollars. I enjoyed the experience, and have always wanted to write my ow...I see this as a great way to get started. I have blogged in the past, but I like the idea better of getting paid for my content rather than just putting it out there for free, hoping that one day my blog gets traction. Anyhow, thanks again for taking the time to respond..

      Best

        Hi Nate,

You can find Geoff's course here: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ning-ever.html (not affiliate link.)

I am also a member, and highly recommend it. I also suggest going to the last page of that thread and working your way back through the reviews, if you're not sure about it.

There's a particularly good and helpful Kindle subforum in the Warrior Forum, Nate. It's called "Warrior Book Club (Kindle Publishing / Brainstorming)". You'll find it listed on the forum's home page.

And here's a recent thread discussing it: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...book-club.html

Wow, cool thing to know how you guys had success with them already. If I may ask how much do you usually sell your kindle ebook? $1, $2 or $3?

Pricing varies a lot from niche to niche.

I know there are people who've tested books at both $0.99 (35% royalty) and $2.99 (70% royalty) and found that they make significantly more money at the lower price, even though their income per copy is 1/6th as much, because they can sell 15-20 times as many copies that way. (This surprised me quite a lot, but apparently it's true, and not that unusual. John Locke discusses it in great detail in his book "How I sold 1 Million eBooks in one month".)

And I'm guessing there are also people who've found the exact opposite.

$0.99 and $2.99 are certainly both popular price-points for short books.
