Coupon Sites Stealing Affiliate Commissions?

Hey guys,

What do we do about all these coupon sites that steal our affiliate commissions like couponrefund and others.

There are many affiliate companies through share-a-sale & commission junction that only offer coupon codes periodically, or don't offer coupons for affiliates -- so we are out of luck anytime they come to the checkout screen and see the Enter Coupon text field -- then they say "Oh OK! Let me go to Google and type in "Company name" coupon... then they click on one of the coupon sites...and almost all of them have a button stating "Activate Offer" -or "Click here for coupon" -- And then they get redirected to the same site we referred them to... with their new affiliate link, and ours dropping off.

And most of the time they aren't even getting that coupon that they promised -- but it doesn't matter, because they are still getting the sale... And you are not!

But what is worst of all, is that they could have spent weeks on your site reading 1000 word articles... watching videos... etc... and then they decide to purchase through your link -- and they click the 'order button' and go through the whole purchase process until they see apply coupon -- then they go to google... type it in and get a stupid ugly coupon site with ABSOLUTELY NO CONTENT -- except a few False-Hope Coupon promises....(and they are only on that site for a few seconds) -- but they made the SALE!

And this is SCARY, because a lot of people now know to go to Google to look for coupons now -- so God knows how many sales we are losing from this!?!

Someone Please tell me that I am wrong!? And if I'm not, please tell me their is way to rectify it?

Kyle

    You are wrong....
If you do not have the current coupon codes for your customers then you are not what they need. they need someone that supplies them with the "now".

If you do not have it then you are not doing your job.

Let it go and learn from it. NOW you KNOW what they want.... GIVE IT TO THEM...

Excuse ME?! Obviously you didn't read my read my whole post! In their I stated that many companies in commission junction only have coupon codes periodically for affiliates!

However these coupon code companies get their own coupon codes or they just lie about them to get people to click on their links or image(s)

So what are you talking about?

I understand your frustration but thats how the market is.

I am reading your post as being, for example an Amazon affiliate site, they read the reviews, love the product, go to buy it, see the apply coupon code, search for a coupon, get said coupon but through another source then they get the commission?

With that being the case there's nothing that can be done about it.

If you can send reasonable traffic through to said offer then why cant you contact the end seller and ask for a coupon code yourself?

Remember you build your site in order to entice the public in and try to sell them something, you cant be angry at coupon sites that "steal" your commissions. They arent stealing anything. The customer is looking for a better deal, nothing wrong with that.

Why not only sell things that dont have coupons available for them?

I understand what you are stating... but my frustration is that many of these coupon sites state to click link to apply coupon...

First off --> These coupons are not even being applied
second --> many of them are just false coupons advertisements

It's obvious that many of these coupon sites are just wanting to make a sale.... and their is nothing wrong with that -- but through false coupon advertising to steal my sales -- that's a big NO-NO in my book!

But I'm sure many of these coupon sites are legit... but through my experience... many of them are just outright scams to steal sales... and don't provide the discount that they promise.... but it don't matter for them --- they will still get the sale that they stole from us that we originally sold to that customer in the first place!

I will try and contact this company to get a coupon -- I tried this before with another company in cj -- but they didn't provide one....they just stated whatever was uploaded in the CJ back-office.... but I will try again with this company.

There is nothing you can do about these sites, so no point wasting energy getting angry.

Direct your energy into something productive and productive. If you feel coupons are costing you money promote merchants who don't offer them, or selling your own stuff, or etc
