Hi there. I've done two book giveaways on GoodReads and nearly a thousand people signed up for each one. The thing is, I didn't do ANYTHING at all to promote it, other than list it on GoodReads. Seriously.

They have such an active community that it's really not necessary. People will sign up without any extra promotion, assuming your book is interesting enough.

But did you make any money or get any reviews as a result of the giveaway?

I only gave away a few copies of my book through GoodReads, but almost every person who received one did write a review on GoodReads. Tons of other members who entered the giveaway added my book to their "to-read" list, so I would say that it was pretty successful in getting attention for my book and reviews/publicity.
