Good domain registrar may not always be a good webhost

It is a simple beginners mistake with many people who start business online. While registering a domain they are tempted to get weh hosting from same registrar for pennies and sign up for 1 or 2 years with them... ONLY to struggle down the lane to get things to work like scripts, wordpress installations etc. and not to mention backups of the sites.

So people! Be careful while signing up for a hosting package with your registrars.

If the above is not the case, enlighten me !! Because I have been struggling to get things work on Godaddy since morning.

Register on NameCheap. Host on Wiredtree. Most shared hosts suck in general.

Shared hosting is ok for a while. But as business grows people try to diversify the income methods. Then certainly there is need for vps. But not in beginner stages though.

This is interesting and relatively true.

I initially starting out doing exactly that. You get a domain and what you think at the time is to use the same company for hosting. You think its easier and will be more beneficial. I would just say, do you research and ask others about the best service in terms of hosting. I recently had issues with my dedicated server and cant explain how disgusted i was when there was one problem after another. Wasted 5 days of critical time.

So tip of day, DONT rush into things. Its all learning i guess. Should start a thread about best recommended hosting companies to use

Some companies are domain registrars but think it makes business wise to add hosting business, but they are really just domain registrar, you will know this when you face issues.

Godaddy is the worst choice for hosting. It's also unwise to host where you register. You should keep your hosting separate from your domain registration. Say your host who is also your registrar gets a spam complaint or some other problem. With your domains at a separate registrar, you can quickly recover your sites on a new host if you keep a backup and just point the nameservers to the new host. If the domain is with the host, you're basically screwed if they hold the domain hostage (and there are plenty of stories of that happening).
