Help What to do with a 300k list?

Ok. So I need some ideas from you guys. I have a list of over 300k people with resumes and want some feedback on what you might do to monetize a list like this. Let me also say this list is a legal, legitimate list gained knowingly by the people on the list as they offered up the data unsolicited.

Here is what I have:

100% American list
List is of working professionals
Have complete resume data including:
Name, email, address, phone, degrees and education history, info, job history, certifications, etc. Essentially all the resume data one could expect.

Naturally, I have a number of ideas of what to do with this list but the warrior forum is always full of great ideas as well.

PS: The list is not for sale!

A list of people with resumes, huh?

So can we assume that you have these email addresses because these people were applying for jobs?

I hope that's not the case. Either way, if you want real answers, you need to provide more info about how you acquired this list and what your relationship is with them right now.

I have ran a successful and active job board for the past 7 years and i am moving on. Want to leverage the data in a legitimate way. i would say that the relationship with the majority of the list is active and ongoing.

Where are you currently storing this list? Are you saying that you have 300k people in an autoresponder list?

And if not then do you have a plan for mailing out to these people?

Are they likely to know who you are and actually open the emails you send?

I have a few ideas for you but would need to know more information so I can be sure that I'm not helping to spam a bunch of people who are having a tough enough time already!

      Cheers,

      Nadim.

Why not do a search on google for an affiliate program and offer that to your list or search clickbank.

If I signed up to a site and submitted my resume I dont think I would be to happy if I started getting biz op, and work from home offers from the owner.

Did these people give you their info in search of a job? or did they give it to you knowing your going to try and market to them?

I agree with one or two posters here.
          As i understand:
These people gave you a Resume with their contact details because they were/are looking for work, nothing like consent to receive marketing offers fro you.
Will they be interested in the offers you are sending them?
Half of them are still probably unemployed.
          Just thoughts...

    Hello,

This is interesting, A large like this would be great for businesses - like a recruitment agency/brokers. However You know over 300K people ? and they all allowed you to harness their data?

I am not clear on how you acquired the list, but if i had a list that was specific and would want to monetize, i think recruitment agencies.

Not sure of the links, but you can imagine, the more people they have access to the money, they can provide for their clients, as they always get a cut. so maybe you should start research brokers etc.

Or you could even create a website / your own recruitment site /broker site, but you would need to make sure you filters all the date into the appropriate areas, such as Location, ages, qualifications etc

    Hope this helps

Give them more of the type of stuff they opted in for. Don't be sending them other stuff though or you'll have spam complaints coming out your backside.

If you have legal rights to email them; try emailing them resume writing services, or some "work at home" offers from clickbank.

OR, send them a poll from surveymonkey.com, and ask them what they need? Offer them a free bonus for their time. (Maybe a CPA offer?)

Why don't you ask them? Works for Frank Kern!

My advice would be to send them a Survey Monkey link attached to an email asking what sort of help they're after in their lives, and maybe offer them some free training or ebook as incentive to complete.

Why guess when you can get them to tell you themselves?

I've run adwords campaigns purely linking to a page that asks for an email and then send them to a survey page before I've even got a product or built a list.

It's cheap market research, and you can get it for free just by doing one mailing.

Everyone else also gets just one crack at it - help make theirs awesome too... or, politely step out of their way.

I have mixed thoughts on how Frank Kern actually uses his surveys.

In some cases I believe they are part of the sales process and he already has the answers and the product/solution ready to go. But he sends out the survey beforehand because it then makes it look as though he is only giving people what the majority say they need.

He may not be doing that but just a feeling I get when I see those promotions happening and the speed at which he turns the survey into a product.

Let's face it. He knows what his list is after because he's been giving them the same type of stuff for years. I just think those surveys are used as a clever way to pre-frame an upcoming promotion he wants to run.

    Simple in my mind.

Send out an email to your list being HONEST that you are moving on.

Refer them to other staffing agencies...i.e. ladders.com or something like that.

Just make sure that the link to the other agency is AFFILIATE LINKS...

Volah... you just made bank... and you didn't violate trust with your list...

Execute this properly, because you really only get one shot with this type of list.

    Hope this helps,

Maybe you can try sending products from ClickBank that are related to job search, interviews etc.? Even online jobs or make money online related products may work.

Also, there are many CPA offers related to this niche that you may want to look into.

They'd be ripe for a video resume service. Congrats on building a legitimate list.

I would agree in sending out a legit survey, not a leading/sales survey and see what services/products they are interested in. i'd think your job board would be a good place for the survey and feedback.

Why are you moving on from that platform?

I agree with the trend of the answers so far. Basically what you need to do is to find a way to move those people from your current list over to a new opt-in list. The survey idea is a good one, or an email about your new direction, etc. Basically you need ask the current list to confirm onto a new list. You can then market to that new confirmed list freely since it is a new opt-in. Of course you will lose a ton of emails, but you would probably lose them anyway with unsubscribes and spam reports, so better to get rid of the opt-outs before they send in those spam reports.

My thought is that most people on there will not be happy with being sent information on whatever you're trying to sell them.

You definitely want to put some helpful content out there first, maybe a squeeze page and a free offer - if they sign up to whatever it is you are trying to sell, then you're onto a winner, as they're in a segmented list then.

What you can sell them - tough to call - you didn't tell us why they signed up to this other list in the first place?

Are you sure this is ethical, as it's your reputation on the line if you do mail to the list...
