Get Rid of Neg Review on Amazon?

You won't have it taken down. However don't sweat it; people do read reviews seriously and when they read that specific one from your book all they will think is that that person wasn't one who was bound to enjoy the book anyway.

Focus on getting the "right" people to post reviews, not clowns who are happy to give 1 star reviews based on their misinformed decisions.

People look into good and bad reviews. Stupid bad reviews help you, because those who are looking for a reason not to buy realize there are none.

I wouldn't worry too much, books with 100% positive reviews always seem a bit suspicious to me, like they are all paid for, or that friends are writing positive comments. It's only normal that some people won't like it, and his review is not one that comes across as very good. Just ignore it.

This is what happens when you put yourself out there. Don't take it personally. Just about every product on Amazon has a 1 star review...and if they don't, they are probably fake reviews.

This reminds me of like.. When someone reviews a TV and says this:

"THE TV IS GREAT BUT THE BOX WAS SCRATCHED SO I'M GIVING 1 STAR"

^ wtf?

Or even worse

"The TV is great, but the shipping was late so I'm giving 1 star"

To answer your question, I'm not sure what Amazon's policy on removing reviews is. BUT, I doubt they will remove it, because then they can be accused of rigging the playing field so to speak. IF you think you've been wronged, contact support, and inform them that the negative review is groundless.

You could always send a sock puppet in to defend yourself

I buy on Amazon a lot and I do read the reviews and when I see reviews like this I don't pay any attention to them. Why should I listen to someone who is obviously ignorant and clueless? I wouldn't worry about it.

Don't be bothered to much by it. People won't pay any attention to those kind of reviews.

Personally, I tend to write a lot of erotica. I recently received a poor review because one of my readers got offended. According to her, I included a lot of "step dad having sex with step daughter." As a mom, she found it repulsive.

Well, if only she would have read the darn book description before buying it, I wouldn't have that blasted review right now.

In any case, you may choose to contact the reader directly and work with him/her to help you offer a better experience to future customers. Many of these reviewers publicly disclose their contact information, which is found by clicking on their name through the main review page. Kindly ask what exactly needs to be added or improved upon-- or at the very least try to come to a mutual (hopefully positive) understanding. If you do make any changes, kindly inform him/her of your actions while also providing a slight hint that you wish for the bad review to be modified.

Believe it or not, negative reviewers are not all evil and frustrated people; in many cases people will happily change their negative response into a positive one. The fact that you interacted and worked with him/her may go a long, long way, even if there's nothing to fix in your specific case. They may highly appreciate the fact that their voice was heard and taken seriously, and in turn they may show their appreciation.

Otherwise, just move on as other people have stated here. A single bad review will not hurt your sales, especially if the good ones outweigh the bad ones OR if the bad one is pointless and irrelevant.
