Help!! An Ebay question!

My hubby is an Ebayer (drives me nuts - I do not have the patience for it!) but he has a great new product that we want to cross market on social sites as it is a great personalized gift for sports fans -

So - the question is this: Is there any way to create a discount code that can be sent out to past customers and used at checkout with PayPal? Unless I am missing something, I can't se e a way to do this easily - I actually found someone selling a report on EBay on how to do this (which I bought) but of course - haven't heard from them yet, and I would really love to get this done today!

I have searched online with no luck yet - am hoping some of the EBay gurus here can help!

nope, not as far as i know, only coupon codes you can use are those by ebay themselves.

why not just ask him to put in a coupon code in a welcome letter when he sends the product then rebates them if they send it back to claim their rebate? it's what i do

Could do that but the sales volume is pretty significant and we were trying not to have to do this manually - plus you would be paying additional fees as well.

The other reason is that we would also like to use it as an incentive for new customers - such as folks on Twitter etc.

Melody, some third party processors can facilitate that for you.
I have used both channeladvisor and marketworks (which was bought by channeladvisor a couple of years ago.)

You can import .csv file of your preferred customers, track sales, setup automation, do upsales, etc.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with their services but I rate them as excellent for what you're trying to accomplish. They have three business models to accomodate for various sizes businesses. I think they can be kinda pricy and it can cut into your bottom line if you're not doing volume or worse yet, not paying attention. It's extremely robust but it's definitely NOT for the squeamish ebayer.

There are other sites that may do this for free but you can use channelavisor.com for a reference point as they are at the top of the food chain when it comes to 3rd party auction processing.

I'm not affiliated with them but I have 7 years high volume experience on ebay.

Let me know if you have more questions. Be glad to help.

    Bizideas -

Yes, very familiar with both companies - but we also want to be able to market on Twitter, for example, and so we need something that the customer can input at checkout.

We actually used CA for about 3 years - moved away from EBay for awhile but back in again with the new product line. They really rock!

    pcanada:

These are close! But I am concerned that the customer has to go to another site to make the purchase...but I going to check it out further!

    Thanks to both of you!!

Channel Advisor a has module that you can use during the checkout no matter what marketplace your customer is coming from. All they have to do is input your coupon code and, Voilà, it applies the adjusted savings for the customer. They may have changed since last you used them. Channel Advisor "Pro" is what most people used three years ago. It didn't have that feature. Now, their "Merchant" product did and still does have that capability.

I guess that's the real question here though. What kind of checkout are you using. Is it your own? Is it eBay's? Paypal's shopping cart?

If you can't find a simple third party solution, then you could always custom build that functionality within your checkout.

Also Melody, send and search your inquiry over to the the Paypal Developer Community.

I did a quick search (10 mins worth) and I noticed many people have been
trying to implement solutions to technical problems similar to yours.

Thanks - we are just using PayPal through EBay right now - and I was trying to find a ready made fast way to implement this - seems so logical that I (foolishly!) assumed that it was something that was readily available!

LOL - shoulda known better - and thanks for your help - I am going to take another look at CA and pop into the PPDev com.

THIS is why I love the WF - people do take the extra step!
