Is it me or is Getresponse seriously lacking in features?

We aren't anymore relaxed regarding double optins unless you are referring to how we allow people to apply for single optins -- we just make the application process easier via your dashboard, but you still have to pass muster with compliance.

You don't state what features you are looking for. I'll bet the features you want are indeed there and you simply are on the new user learning curve and just need a little help to use them. Drop me a PM with your list of what features you want and I'll get back to you with the help you need. From real time social metrics to the best drag and drop newsletter editor and even a landing page generator, I think GetResponse has amazing features. However, I'm bias and what counts here is that I get you the answers to the questions you have and the best way to do that is for me to help you directly.

The basics are what count and what will make you money... both are good/pretty much the same for the basics.

Aweber, like you already found out, is more likely to close your account without notice as well as all your subscribers if you are using single opt-in.

Again the basics is what you should be critiquing... like plain text messages, tracking, html messages, editing... etc etc...

For me it's not even a question I go with getresponse because of the point I mention above...

  Steve, thanks for the reminder. It is all about the basics - plain text and killer email copy, and - not to mention - good deliverability, which Getresponse DOES offer.
  
  I used to be with Imnica mail, who have GREAT prices. But on cheap services you also get cheap customers who no doubt spam the hell out of their lists, resulting in Imnica Mail having TERRIBLE deliverability!

Big vote here for GetResponse! Been with them for nearly 6 years now, and will likely never cancel. I'm very happy with the features as is, but I also just started using their new landing page feature - And that seems to have some real potential too. (Though it does cost extra)

Most important features for me are deliverability, reliability, and customer support... GetResponse delivers all 3.

I used GetResponse for a time, it was free - not sure that that is the case any more.

I now have AWeber because I found it has more features. Unless GetResponse has updated what it has features wise, I'd definitely go with AWeber.

I think both are good auto-responder softwares, at the time I was with GetResponse, it couldn't do pop ups, or lightbox effects itself, so I had to do it myself. For me that wasn't a problem, but for non technical people that might be a bit of a stretch.

I found that AWeber had slightly more intuitive workings, although both are fairly similar.

I'm pretty happy with Aweber and they have just about every feature you could want...I can't think of anything that I need that they dont offer.. try the free trial (or $1 trial or whatever) and see for yourself.

I use Aweber (have never used Get Response) and while it is good there are a lot of features I think it's missing too that I just can't understand why they don't have. That's another thread altogether though.

It's you.

GetResponse requires a small learning curve right in the beginning... but once you understand where everything is, and what GetResponse calls it versus what Aweber or Imnica or any other autoresponder calls it - it works exactly as one would expect, maybe better.

They're great about letting you import properly documented buyers lists from shopping carts or other unconnected information systems without having to reconfirm and their reporting is really nice to me.

I don't think Aweber has surveys, do they?

I know I like GR's segmentation features better.

That and GR is a bloody great sponsor of our community events and Jim Ducharme makes himself readily available to Warriors... as he has upthread. That's worth... well, a lot.
