Best Advice I Ever Got

Want to make more money in your online business? PUT MORE STUFF OUT!

It seems like common sense, but it's far from it. Way too many of us get caught up wanting something to be perfect before we sell it. Well, that's a sure path to making part-time money. You need to embrace this concept:

Good enough is good enough!

No matter how "perfect" you think something is, it isn't. Someone will find fault with it. Guaranteed. So change your mindset.

Embrace the idea that once you've gotten to where you can honestly say something you've made is good enough to be useful for the buyers, GET IT OUT THERE.

This really will help you make more money. But you have to really and fully buy into the idea.

    John,

I agree with you on .999% of your OP. But you and I both know there are way to many folks will take what you said, as a license, to not make their product " Good Enough". Costing them and their clients time and money.

Big Mike spoke of a friend of his that spent 10 years (yep, 10 years) on getting his product "good enough". Guess what? He never did. His words to Big Mike were "It's not ready yet".

So your point is one we all need to put in our pipe and smoke on it.

    Ken

There's a lot of truth to both of those cliches. I think what I was saying in the OP was a bit more involved, but you can't please everyone.

Thats a very good point, I have found myself perfecting my products and it just takes that much longer - now I just say: "You don't have to get it right, you just have to get it going"

Well, I absolutely DO believe you have to get it "right!" That's a must. But you do NOT have to make it absolutely perfect or cover every single aspect of the topic perfectly.

The key to deciding something is "good enough" to sell, in my opinion, is when you can honestly say it's helpful and will get results for the buyer.

Get it out there and move on to the next thing. If someone has questions, answer them. But move on to the next project and grow your business/income.

Always remember if it's software or something you can keep updating, you add value to your product and to your clients when you do an update.

I agree with John the Zeus66 man.

And if you find that your "good enough" is really not "good enough" for too high a percentage of buyers that they then ask for refunds due to your poor quality product, you'll just know that you need to do a bit more to make it truly "good enough." But you would have never known that if you didn't just decide to get it out there and start selling it.

I've know too many people who had great products and became OCD over minor details that they delayed launching for weeks and months. In those weeks and months they could have been working on a new product to help their customers.

And sometimes we can want to create the best product in the world so we include too much content. Makes it harder to get through the product and includes too many details which are actually not pertinent to the topic at hand. Been there done that!

Just do it. Stop buying and start selling.

That is some great advice from the OP. But no matter how perfect you think what you have is, there will always be someone that don't. Sometimes you have to just believe in what you got and move forward with it.

    I kinda agree.

I think it's more about "Your best effort" rather than good enough.

Or perhaps put a different way, "Enough value".

Not releasing something until it's perfect is a bad idea, but releasing something before it's ready, or if it is rubbish can also damage your reputation. Got to get the balance right. Be brave and get good information out there, people will love it then.

Thanks for this reminder. As I gear up to release my first product I worry that it's not ready yet. I feel I need to keep adding to it and perfecting.

Of course I still want to make it really good, but I need to remember to keep in mind that perfection is impossible. Especially for a first product. Thanks

That's a common worry (about your 1st product not being ready). As long as you KNOW the quality is good and you've truly helped people, it doesn't have to have fancy graphics and slick packaging.

That's kind of what I'm getting at here. Don't let the stuff that really doesn't matter slow you down. Better to get it out there where it can sell. If I have 30 days, I'd rather put out 2 "good enough" products than agonize over 1 "perfect" product (that won't be perfect anyway, because that does not exist).

Good luck with your 1st one!

    Great post John,

I remember I was on a Webinar a few months ago and one of the hosts made a point that completely changed the mindset of how I go about my business. He said that "Perfection Equals Poverty". I was very guilty of this and stopped worrying if things were 100% perfect and just started getting things out there.

yeah I agree, I don't think there is a day that goes by that I am not creating new content for something, either a new products a new giveaway video or something.

One of the best Skill sI have been able to develop is the ability to create Awesome content fast. I whipped up a 14 video course that sold for $97 in a few hours and the refund rate was really low.

Creating great content and knowing how to use it to generate sales is the best thing I've ever learned to do.

It is amazing that people will tell you that they are not making money online and when you asking them what they are selling, they often show an ebook that is PLR and they have not even rewritten it, changed the title or got new graphics.

I know the more products you are prepared to put up, the greater the chance you have to make sales.
