What Do You Folks Use For Custom Video Intros?

Hi everybody,

I am looking to get a top quality video intro to my video blog and am looking for what is available out there. I don't simply want a solution where I am replacing some text but a custom one for my site. So my questions are:

1. What services are out there?
2. Are there any services out there that allow such a thing in a contest like 99designs offers?

Thanking everyone in advance and any help would be appreciated!

JD, I'm going to give you a few recommendations for different amounts of money you want to spend:

    1. The cheapest will be Fiverr. This is one of the few things that I would buy on Fiverr because they're almost impossible to screw up. All you have to do is send your logo to whoever is running the gig and they will plug it into a template that creates a video opener. I actually just wrote a blog entry about this recently for my website.

    2. Buy motion graphics software like Motion 5 for Apple (sorry, I'm not sure of the PC equivalent...I know Adobe After Effects is much more expensive than Motion) and buy a template yourself from motionvfx.com (not an affiliate link). This way you can create different videos inexpensively by buying a new template.

    3. Hire a motion graphics professional. This can cost a few hundred dollars or a few thousand dollars depending on who you hire and what you want done. I've used JMDesignCo.com (not an affiliate link) before and was very happy with the results.

    Good luck!

      Hey Xan,

Thanks for the reply. I am going to be most interested in the 3rd option because I want it to be original and unique for my site. So out of curiosity, how much did it cost you to get yours done with JMDesignCo?

I can't provide specific contact info, but I'd be willing to bet that you could find a college student that could do a bang up job while saving you some cash. My son was in graphic arts in high school and ended up with some pretty sweet skills. College age artists are very creative and generally happy for some extra cash.

That is probably true but I am just not sure how to go about locating such college kids with said talent. I am familiar with outsourcing overseas mostly on the freelancer kind of sites but not using talent inside the US. Maybe someone else here has some ideas now that you have mentioned this?

I know of two different services provided by the same company. A cheaper one called Videolean and a more expensive (and professional one) called Motion4startups. You might want to Google them both. The first one uses templates, the other one is totally customized to your needs.

Good stuff, any idea what the latter one charges for its custom designs?

Don't overlook Craigslist if you are searching for local talent, I see ads on there quite often for people looking for similar services.

JMDesignCo.com does awesome work and Jeff(the owner) is a pleasure to work with. He is actually the one who created the SiteBildZ.com promo vids, not the animated vid but the others.

Your looking at around a couple thousand per 30 second vid.

I think they are ok to brand your videos, as long as they are not long with loud cheesy music.

I am sure they can work for some people and their projects but that is not what I am interested in. I am looking for sites that allow for customer video openers like the JMDesign mentioned or even better, sites like 99designs that allow for crowdsourcing for video openers.

Lol I must have misread the the topic, I am taking my tired behind to bed :p

Something like speed drawing would be a great intro, something like this gig 5$ on fiverr http://fiverr.com/speeddraw/speed-dr...go-in-24-hours

I had him do a logo, that I plan on using for intros, something as simple as that would work great for intros.

To be perfectly honest I haven´t the faintest Idea, but I believe they are not especially cheap. The reason behind Videolean was to give a lower pricetag product that still had the kind of quality they work with. I know for a fact that even though they take all kinds of customers and budgets, they have lately been getting a few big clients. Might be the time to approach them before they get too big.

In any case if you contact the Spanish guy, whose name is David Macias he is a very open guy that runs a ton of startup events heree in Spain and will be more than happy to practise his recently acquired english skills.

He used to be one my rivals as a young chess player. I still have a chip on my shoulder with the basterd chess wise, he was VERY good

I recently found a website called killersalesvideo.com that offers really nice templates for $97. I'm not affiliated with them, but I really like their work.

The price completely depends on what you want done, but a video opener can be $750 - $2000 (depending on length mainly).

It's not an inexpensive thing to have done, but if you're talking about long term branding it's a good option.

    There's a number of options.

    1. www.Flixpress.com

    2. www.Videohive.net - Buy an Adobe After Effects template and either pay someone to modify it for you or learn After Effects. You can get a 30 day free trial or "rent" it from the Adobe cloud for $29 a month. VideoHive also has a good selection of "motion backgrounds" that don't require After Effects and can be edited in any video editor.

    3. Buy a membership to a site like Video Blocks which has stock videos, motion backgrounds and After Effects templates.

    4. Google "free motion backgrounds". After downloading, open it in any video editor that has decent text graphics and special effects.

Then, go to www.Jewelbeat.com and buy a great sound track for 99 cents.

Look for local schools (colleges, community colleges, trade schools) with graphic arts programs. Contact the department head and ask for recommendations. The offer of a bona fide professional credit for their portfolio or resume, along with a few bucks, will draw out some serious talent if it's there.

what i normally do is go to videohive.net and find a good video logo template i like, then i edit my own text in after effects. if you do not have after effects, then go to fiverr.com and pay someone $5 to edit the template for you.

I learned today that 99designs does not do contests for this type of thing which is surprising as I think that would be popular. I appreciate those trying to help by mentioning the video template sites but again that is not what I am after for this project. I am most interested in finding services or freelancers who do this kind of work customized like JMDesigns. Apparently, the industry term for this is custom motion graphics for video openers.
