What are the pros and cons of setting up this type of business ?

I am a good Seo Article Writer so I not only write well but I also have been doing seo for over 6 years but my seo experience is more with local seo as I have always been involved with offline businesses, but am looking for a way for this year to do some thing online just not sure what will it be since my time is so limited as it is ........ just like most people here I do not think there any Power Ball Lottery Winners Here except a lot of hard working people who work one or 2 jobs then come here to learn how to make money online too..;>)

The main con is scale. This is because the money you make is tied down to you or your employees time and energy. Sure, it's easy to get a handful of clients, but in order to scale that 10x, you'll need to have 10x of your resources added to support that.

Compare that with an eBook. Selling it to 10 people as opposed 100,000 people requires pretty much the same amount of work.

Not to mention that clients suck. Believe me, I've done freelance work before and it ain't fun. You're not a business owner, but essentially an employee to your clients.

Instead of getting into the client services business, why not create a product that outlines all the stuff you learned about local seo for offline businesses?

The main downside is finding a wide variety of authority blogs that will post your guest posts.

Please don't take this the wrong way: absolutely no criticism or negativity is implied at all, but I strongly suspect that, from your own initial perspective, the main thing it's going to take to do a guest posting business will be radically to change your entire outlook away from SEO and toward targeted traffic. Guest posting, needless to say, is not primarily about SEO.

That said, I do plenty of guest posting in multiple niches of my own affiliate marketing business, but I'm not at all clear how a "guest posting business" would work. It seems to me that guest posting is very much a long term relationship-building business, and it's not immediately apparent how successfully or beneficially that can be "outsourced"?

Who do you see as the "potential customers", and with what benefits are you aiming to provide them?

There are a lot of hurdles in your way to make this idea a success. On paper it sounds like a good business plan. With all the recent change in SEO, many techniques are useless or harmful. But guest posting is one of the best methods of boosting traffic directly and through SEO.

However, guest posting works best on a personal level. One of its greatest benefits is networking with people in your niche. Trying to scale this method up as a business, you lose that.

There are already some sites which act as a kind of middle man, to help bloggers find guest posting opportunities. Though I'm not sure how much money making potential this has.

Having said all that, if you can come up with a really good reason why people should come to you rather than directly to other bloggers and have a very clever marketing strategy, then it could work.

By guest posting business are you referring to charging clients $ to get guests posts published for them?

If so, many services are available charging $20 to $200 + per guest post. Anyone can crank out mediocre articles and get them on low authority blogs. You might get buyers. You charge mega premium bucks if you establish relationships with high authority websites and magazines. If you do this and those publications routinely accept your articles, you'll be able to charge major dollars per guest post.

However, if you can get articles published on the best-of-the-best, I can't help but think you'd make more money promoting your own site(s) than other people's site ... that is unless you need cash right now.

If you have got good writing skill, you can start a guest posting service business just like article submission business. You must have good list of websites which allows guest posting from different niche.

Intersting to read this. I offer some links occasionally on my sites, but never really thought of scaling it up into a whole busineess based upon the links.

I start by building a website with the readers in mind, and to appease Google by ensuring everything doesn't just look natural, but IS natural. Then I offer links on those sites. It would be a lot of work to scale it up, but it's nice to offer high quality links and make a few bucks on the side from my existing web properties.

Really interested to see what others have to say!

    Thanks everyone...

Alexa, I just read something up on guest posting that said exactly what you said that it is not about seo with guest posting but more about relationship building and getting traffic from high authority sites...Yes You Are Right ! I understand better because I was thinking with my SEO Hat On ;>)

Tonyb23... this was all you had to tell me, I could not scale it up, then it is not for me since I need to be able to scale up a business. Was thinking of making some quick cash and possibly building it into a business but was not thinking about scaling which is not an easy thing to do with this service ...thanks tony

As Alexa said (and as you realized), it's about traffic and relationships, not SEO. It would be difficult, IMHO, to get started with this because you would only be able to carter to one niche at a time.

That is, you'd have to build a relationship with bloggers first, and then get them to agree to accept guest posts that promote other people's websites. That part wouldn't be so difficult, but unless the bloggers are willing to accept guest posts from you on a daily basis (unlikely), you'll have a bit of a hard time satisfying demand.

I'd suggest starting with something more simple/easy, that doesn't require relationship building, like an automatic link-building service. And by automatic links, I don't mean spammy links, but relevant links on authority blogs.

    Anyway, good luck.
