How about introducing Warrior Currency? A Local Barter System for this forum? We can save txn fees!!

Hi Guys,

I just finished watching the 3 set documentary movie: Money as debt. It gave me the idea of local barter / exchange system using credits wherever possible because the "real" currency is too much out of our control.

I just remembered that I buy a lot of WSOs and Services from here and also sell a lot of WSOs and services.

Instead of moving the money out every time into paypal and my Bank account (Indians cannot keep balance in paypal) I can accumulate credits (Say warrior currency or warrior dollars) in my "Warrior Wallet" and then spend them to buy WSO's and services. A ton of money can be saved in transaction fees.

This need not be mandatory and sellers can use PayPal or other gateways if they want to.

One should be able to "deposit" money into this "wallet" and withdraw money from this "wallet". We can have something like 1 Warrior Dollar = 1 US Dollar.

If Allen thinks that it is cumbersome to integrate the warrior wallet into real currency system, it can still be a strict internal barter without the need for connection with external money. For every new member, 10 Warrior Dollars can be credited into his/her account in return for a $10 charge. (Because there needs to be some currency in circulation!).

For guys like me who are confident that we would almost spend all the money earned by selling WSOs/services back into WSOs/services offered by warriors, we could save a lot of money.

Also no matter how long we keep the "Warrior Dollars" in the "Warrior Wallet", it will not devalue because there will be no inflation for this. It will always hold its value in the form of warrior forum services or WSOs. And it need not be withdrawn ever.

A common commodity through which we exchange value inside the warrior forum ecosystem!

Yeah, the pool probably isn't big enough and trusted enough yet. Also, who would do the exchange to currency if things fail?

In the United States the IRS requires that businesses report barter and pay taxes on it. Barter exchanges are required to file 1099s. For that reason, I think it's safe to say that there wouldn't ever be an official Warrior Forum barter system.

    I guess my question is:

Why would anyone sell products/services here for virtual money that is worthless outside the forum? Where is the cash profit?

If you could "buy" virtual dollars - you'd also need a way to cash them in. That means you couldn't give them away unless you want to give money away.

People sell here to make money to pay their bills in real life. If all you do is sell things here in order to buy things here - it creates a closed system rather than a for-profit business.

It's an interesting thought - but I don't see it as a workable system.

My only question would be "who is the bank?"
