Monetizing A Music-Based Youtube Channel

Hi Warriors!

I am starting to take action (finally) by creating a YouTube channel targeted at a subgenre of music. My main motivation is just my passion for music but I'd like to monetize the channel eventually. I'll be posting new releases and linking to official free download pages (no sharecash/etc) I just have a couple questions.

- How can I avoid getting my channel banned/videos removed? I'd be posting music that is already given away for free, but I've been banned for that before.

- Can a YouTube channel be monetized with their built in ad system right away or do I need to wait until I have substantial views/subscribers?

- What are some other ways to monetize a YouTube channel besides their built in system?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

One method is to put links in the description to relevant products or offers, example of you were posting hiphop videos you could link to a review of some hiphop beat making software, it converts pretty well - even just from casual fans. Seems everyone wants to try their hands at being a producer .

You can do it straight away, but there can't be copyright issues.

Congratulations! Taking action can be very difficult (I should know). You're taking a step in the right direction.

Hard to say, to be honest. Make sure the music you're giving away is either released in the Creative Commons, OR get permission from the copyright holder (probably the artist) first, before you post it.

In the event that you DO get banned, and you think it was unjustified or you know for a fact that you did NOT infringe anyone's copyright, you can try to dispute it by contacting YouTube support.

Yes, you can monetize your YouTube channel right away. More info here: YouTube Partner Program - YouTube

As for other methods of monetization, you can link to a landing page where you can build a list, link to the song's download page with your affiliate link (if applicable), and put up adsense ads.

    Lots of options really.

    Good luck!

If you were banned before then do you think there is any guarantee you will not be now? Not to discourage though. I had some old pdf in 4shared which I uploaded 2yrs ago. Now they have disabled my account for copyright infringement. I simply couldn't get it because I used articles from Ezinearticles and there should not be a copyright issue.

I wrote them once and they gave me a link to read. That account was not in my memory I only remembered it when that email arrived. Now I will not dispute because it is of no use for me. Likewise the big G guys will not listen to you if the file will have some similar title with a copyright material. just to give an idea. best of wishes.
