Question about the appropriate use of the forums

This came in the Off-Topic forum when someone asked about WSO's. I'll repeat the question here.

Well unfortunately, there isn't much going on in many of the product forums other than discussion about specific products, and the promotion of those products.
Mary, I thought that's what the product ad forums were for. (WSO, Classifieds, For Hire, and JV.) Am I missing something? I thought the other forums were for general discussion, and those forums were for particular offers.
Can someone shed some light?

    Hi Allen,
    as far as I know we're not suppose to be promoting anything on the forums. At least that's what I'm sensing going around the community. The forums are more for exchanging useful information to help others in the community. I'm also fairly new here also so I'd actually like more details in that subject.
