Just sold a site I paid $3,000 for 6 months ago for $25,000 last night!!!

This is a game changer for me. I had the auction up for four hours and someone made me an offer for $25,000 and I took it. In the middle of June I purchased the site for $3,000! Maybe I am getting pretty good at this internet marketing game finally???

Awesome mate. Did you just work on the site and boost it's value with more traffic/sales?

I second this question. I'm curious to know what you did to increase its value so drastically.

The money is in escrow right now, the buyer has over 70k worth of history all 100% so I am confident in the transaction. As for taxes I will hire the best for loop holes around that, I am not in the six figure mark so it shouldn't be too bad.

As for what I did. I redid all the onpage seo, redesigned the site, kept track of the sales, did some off page seo but nothing really special as far as me increasing the rankings, traffic actually dropped but conversions went up. So pretty much it was like buying an ugly abandoned house and cleaning it up

If that's the case, well, that is an amazing return on investment. Sounds like you've spent very little money after purchase or even spent time writing. Just reorganizing a few things.

Out of interest, what kind of traffic does the site get and approximate revenue?

I probably spend a couple hundred hours working the content and design of the site since taking it over. It was a real mess. Everything was 100% unique and the business model I laid out was extremely professional, this isn't your cheap ass easy flip type of site. If your willing to get your hands dirty anyone can do this stuff but most hate the dirty work involved with building up websites, it's personally my passion I get bored after that.

Jeff that's a fantastic result buddy - maybe there is money in renovation these days after all:-) I have had experience in flipping but never got that sort of result so I really do take my hat off to you - well done Jeff.

Keep us up to date as to your next en devour, no doubt you are eager to repeat that success, brilliant to hear of such a success - congratulations.

No I am not surprised by the offer just excited that it happened I wouldn't sell it for less than what I did.

Also I purchased this site originally from someone who didn't know the value, so that's where the big rewards came into play. She didn't touch it for over a year and just wanted out, so that's how I took it over. If the site went public originally it would have probably pulled pretty close to what I sold it for, maybe less do to the design flaws it originally had.

Thanks guys basically it was a little luck with my friend wanting to sell not knowing the value mixed with me working my ass off knowing the value. I will just say this as far as value the main thing was how good my sales were. It pulled in six figures worth of revenue since it's been open. I made over $7,000 in profits since taking the site over so all in all I think it was a good deal for both parties. I needed the money and they have the money to improve upon the business. It's a win win and that's how I like doing business.

After you bought it from your friend, did you tell them how lucky you were to have a friend like that?

Congrats on selling your site man! I remember exchanging a couple of messages with you about selling websites a few days ago, is that the one you were talking about then?

If so, did you sell it throug flippa auctions or was it a private sale? You got me curious

Anyway congrats again, you have all the right reasons to be excited about your flip!

Congrats! That is how I got my first big break with IM as well, from a nice flip. I think buying and optimizing established, but under-performing sites presents a great opportunity, that many warriors might be overlooking. You just have to look hard to find them.

That's an awesome job and really inspiring! I've been thinking about getting into site flipping for some faster cash but now I'm really going to look into it big time....Not that I'll sell a site for $25,000 tomorrow but it's nice to see someone do that in just 6 months.

That is definitely a game changer, now that you have an even bigger capital than before you may want to buy yourself a real profitable website and start tidying up the new one. You may become the "big guy" in the next five years later. The risk of buying is finally paid off. I hope people will get more brave after reading your story, just like me right now.
