How do you limit your number of sales?

Hello all,

If you only want to sell 10,20 or 100 of one of your products. How do you limit those sales. Is there a script? Or do you need to monitor it to make sure you do not go over those amounts.

At this point I am thinking about using Clickbank. But if I need to get a merchant account I will do that as well.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I use a script called "Rapid Action Profits" to limit sales but it does cost $177 so if cost is a concern, PayPal itself does this. Let's say you have a mailing list and you aren't using affiliates for this particular sale, PayPal will automatically stop taking orders at a certain number of sales and forward people to a "Sold Out" page when that number has been reached.

When you're creating a payment button, it's one of the options in a drop down menu.

If you're going to use ClickBank and you want affiliates then I'm sure other Warriors can let you know of scripts that can be used to limit sales. I just don't know of any off hand.

      Thanks Personal Coach,

I guess an easy way to do it would be to use Paypal then and instant pay affiliates. Unless someone else can chime in about a CB script for this.

I believe that PayPal lets you limit sales now.

You can set up a certain number of units to be sold and the link will stop working once the quota is hit.

Then just redirect them to the download page once they have paid.

It isn't the most secured way but it is an option.

Another eJunkie fan here, not only can you limit your sales you also will be providing your customers with a time-limited download link that they can't just pass around to their friends.

Not sure if you're a coder but it would be a simple matter to use the Thank You page eJunkie (or PayPal) sends your paid customers to as a trigger for some PHP code. The code could simply decrement a count that you keep in a database or external file. This way you could display the number of units left on your sales page.
