Bum Marketing & Ezines - What should I link to?

Hi all fellow warriors...

I have a quick question I hope you guys (and gals) can help me with...

When writing a bunch of articles to ezines, with the sole intent of selling an affiliate product, what type of page should I link to?

My own salespage (with affiliate links)

A page with a redirect script (I've seen this a couple of times, but got the impression that ezines doesn't allow this)

Hope you can help a struggling newbie

Most article directories and similar sites will not allow you to include an affiliate link. They have no problem if you link to your own page that has affiliate links though. This is much better than a direct affiliate link anyway. This way, you have the opportunity to upsell other items and maybe get them in your subscriber list. Plus it helps build links to your pages which in turn help your search engine rankings. If you get enough links, your own page could get a steady stream of traffic from those serps.

Most would direct them to a squeeze page to capture their email then presell them in a short auto responder series.
You can also just use a top level domain as a redirect which most article directories accept because it is a top level domain and not some sub domain

Are you talking about ezinearticles.com or putting ads in ezines?

If you're posting articles to ezinearticles.com (EZA) then either approach could work. If you want to get into a niche quickly you could set up a redirect to the sales page and once you have content for a autoresponder series you could change the redirect back to your own lead capture page.

          I am talking about ezinearticles.com.

I think I will try to redirect a top-level domain to the affiliate page, first.

    Okay...
I should have checked this out before even posting here, bu here it goes:

From: EzineArticles.com Terms of Service For Authors

You declare that you will not send in any articles with direct affiliate links in them. We reject articles with direct affiliate links. It is ok, however, forward/redirect to an affiliate link from the top-level of a domain name you own. For example, it is permissible to forward to an affiliate link from:

    hxxp://your-company-name.com/

...but it would not be permissable to forward to an affiliate link from:

    hxxp://your-company-name.com/page.html
    hxxp://your-company-name.com/subdirectory/
    hxxp://your-company-name.com/subdirectory/page.html

This is one of our many article quality standards.

I guess MANY people do not know that ezinearticles.com accepts top level domains redirecting to an affiliate url. I did not know myself for quite a while. OSOme months ago I read their TOS and found out. I am getting good results using a top level domain that forwards to the affiliate url.

It is also pretty easy and cheap to do. Just register your domain at godady and use their free forwarding service. You can get a .info domain for 99 cent. Just look for a godaddy coupon code. They can be found by searching on google for "godaddy coupon".

You can maybe test the niche with a re-direct, but personally I would suggest linking back to your own domain and then use your other link option to give juice to a squidoo lens..

Finally, use a squeeze page when you are in a position to be able to write regular broadcast content to your list. A lot of people recommend starting with a list but if you have no idea how to write to your list then this is a pointless exercise in my opinion.
This is exactly where I'm at, need to build some good looking landing pages.

    Thanks
