Creative link redirection

I just saw a blog that had links to its sponsors but instead of the target site's url at the bottom of my screen when I hover over it, I saw the blog's url .net version with /xya that then seamlessly directed me to the sponsoring site.
Is this easy to do? It would seem that the .net site would have a page with a redirect to the sponsor. I like the idea. The url shows up as part of the blog's page structure--which would effectively "cloak" an affiliate url address.
Has anyone seen or done this?

Was the original URL a .net too? Or had the owner of the site purchased the same domain name but with the .net extension and used that to redirect traffic to sponsored links?

I suppose it's the same process as cloaking them through "xyz.com/redirect/go.php" type of links, whereby the user enters a page that's connected to the home address (xyz.com) but then redirected to an affiliate link (yzx.com/?ref=123) from the go.php page.

Hope this makes sense, kind of hard to explain if I'm honest.

    Jamie.

It was a site with .com version and the sponsor link to the .net version but taken directly to sponsor. So I imagine a page on the .net version of the site being redirected to the sponsor. I can only suppose that this is for reports of clicks to that sponsor through the .net page redirect. It would serve the purpose for making a click count to report to the sponsor so they know how much traffic came from the ad.

prettylink allows you to track the clicks.
and also makes it look like from your own site with /xya

You can get a link cloaker.

Have the link say what ever you like and redirect to any URL/link.

Yes just create a hyperlink. It is done all the time - you can redirect people where ever you want.

    It looks like this.

If you go to this page. http://www.search.qpricing.com/m~c-l...ers~b-462.aspx
and hover over "Go to Store" link. You will see qpricing.com/products The products are dynamically generated. Here is the code: <a <%=Target()%>name="P<%=i%>" href="http://www.qpricing.com/products" onclick="gotoclick(this, 'P<%=i%>', '<%=Target(False)%>')" title="<%=Product.<merchantName>.Value%>" rel="nofollow">Go to Store</a> It is done with onclick.
